I'm going on a boat! For science!

Hey Space Friends!

I want to share an exciting new project with you today that wouldn't be possible without every one of you who has joined my Patreon crew!

I will be going on an expedition aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus, the 64-meter research vessel that has two underwater robots that regularly livestream their deep sea exploration. The boat is operated by the Ocean Exploration Trust, which was founded by Dr. Robert Ballard, the guy who discovered the Titanic. The video here is maybe one you've seen from them before of a totally adorable bobtail squid. As some of you may know, I am a huge fan of deep sea exploration and of what I lovingly refer to as "creepy awesome sea slime". There are so many parallels between space exploration and ocean exploration, so I'm psyched about all the inspiration and knowledge headed my way and sharing it with you.

I don't have the exact timing yet, but it will be sometime this year for up to three weeks and I am super excited to take you all along on my journey via videos and various updates. This opportunity is thanks to the Ocean Exploration Trust's Science Communication Fellowship. The fellowship involves a training workshop and ongoing collaborations for a year in addition to the ocean expedition.

The fellowship will take care of my travel expenses, but is otherwise entirely unpaid - so I'm sending you all who have joined my Patreon crew here a massive THANK YOU because I literally wouldn't be able to do this without your support. I promise to make some awesome science stuff from this and share it with you and the world.
