What is this?

This is a story I began back in 2009 after just coming back to the Pokemon fandom. The idea was to write something totally different from what would normally be called a Pokemon story. There are no trainers, no gym battles, and the focus of the story is taken away from combat and more on adventure, discovery, and problem-solving.

What's so special about it?

I'll give you 5 reasons it's special:

  • Most of the story does not take place on the Pokemon world, but on a different world that resembles Medieval Fantasy. Pokemon are a new thing there to the people at large.
  • Humans and Pokemon work together and depend for their survival in this strange world on each other.
  • There's magic! Pokemon and humans especially can learn how to cast spells.
  • Many people find the characters totally unique, relatable, and believable. You would have no trouble getting to know these people.
  • I have a friend who's older than my mother, has no idea what a Pokemon is, and she has a Master's degree in Writing. I showed her what I had written at that time and she urged me to get it published. My high school teacher endorsed it during class several times, and on a Pokemon forum called Victory Road, it was the story that earned me the rank of Best Writer, through a public vote, for two consecutive years during the forum's 2010 + 2011 annual talent showcases. It is not  your average Pokemon story.
  • Why have you started a Patreon page for it?

Because people want to see this go beyond a simple e-book and I am in a position to do just that. I also have a friend that lives in Toyko, knows Japanese, and has offered to translate and even spread the word in Japan about this story. I'm currently rewriting the entire story so the dialogue sounds better, the writing looks neater with less errors, and the story is more presentable.

I want this to become its own animated movie, and Patreon is the catalyst that will enable such a thing to happen.

Are you allowed to do this?

I have written permission from Patreon to go through with this. And also, if people can set up successful pages about making Minecraft mods and writing fanfiction, I don't think anyone has any reason to worry about this project.

Where can I read the story?

You can find it throughout the various posts under the Content tab (for the new manuscript) or if you want to read the old version, you can head over to fanfiction.net and find it there. Here's a link to get you there faster:

What will I get from pledging to this?

There's a reward system in place that will grow and expand over time as I'm able to do the more advanced forms of each episode. But that shouldn't be your primary goal. My primary goal is to turn an unconventional story about Pokemon and turn it into something really big for everyone to enjoy. My goal isn't to make money from this; this is a non-profit venture, but I still need funding in order to handle all the costs involved with doing the more advanced stuff.

What you'll get out of pledging to 10 Ordeals is not just tangible rewards, although you get that. The best thing you'll receive in return is the content we release as a result of your pledges. The money earned form the small-scale released will pave the way for the bigger and more exciting projects. :)

If you're in any way convinced that this cause is right for you, by all means, pledge what you feel comfortable with, and even if you can't pledge any money, you can share this with others and get the word out about this story because the world is experiencing a lack of originality and we're all here to be part of the solution.
