About

Hi there! I'm Peter Millard from 10minute workshop YouTube channel, and the 10minuteworkshop.com website and blog.

With a background originally in professional photography, I’ve been a London-based carpenter and cabinetmaker for 20 years, and 3 years ago I started a YouTube channel showing weekly down-to-earth how-to guides, quick tips and occasional tool comparisons to help inform, entertain and educate both new users and old hands alike, and I’ve inspired more than a few new woodworkers to have a crack at some of their own projects.

Over the last 3 years the channel’s grown considerably (50k subscribers, 370-odd videos, ~7 million views) but a bit like having kids, as they grow they become more demanding of both time and money, and I've set up this Patreon page to help fund the ongoing cost of putting out these regular free videos on YouTube.

When you sign up as a patron, you'll be asked to select how much you want to pledge per month, and this money goes directly into funding the associated costs of my YouTube channel - for example, the vast majority of the tools I review I buy from a regular store, with my own money, just as you would, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you just how much that all starts to add up.

Your pledge is entirely voluntary, on a monthly ongoing basis, and wether you see my videos as entertainment, as practical advice on techniques, or as money-saving tips and jigs, have a think about what they've been worth to you, what value you've gained from them. Would that be the price of a cup of coffee a month, perhaps? Well, that'd be very welcome - milk, no sugar, thanks!

Here at Patreon I also post regular weekly exclusive content just for you, my Patreon supporters, in the form of A Week In The Workshop vlog; sometimes this is work that I’ve been doing, something this is behind the scenes and over the shoulder type of content, or deleted scenes from the current video that didn’t make it into the final edit. And something it’s just me going about my daily business running a small commercial workshop, and busy YouTube channel.

Few things have given me greater pleasure than when a subscriber messaged me to say they’d left school with no woodworking skills, but thanks to my channel they’ve just made a dozen replacement kitchen cabinet doors using the loose tenon technique I described in my very first video.

With your help and support I look forward to making many more videos to come, so that together we can reach as many people as possible who want to make things, but don't know how.

I'll look forward to seeing you next week. Take care. Peter
