About

2 Non Doctors is a weekly podcast from comedians Liz Miele and Maria Shehata who talk about health, their bodies and life with little to no accuracy. It is personal and funny, but if it is informative - that’s just an unfortunate side effect.

As the world comes to grips with an unprecedented global pandemic, and we find ourselves writing history in real-time, the number one thing on the minds of people around the world is? What to watch on Netflix! And then? Are we going to die?

Since doctors and health care workers are a tad busy at the moment, people have turned to the internet to answer all of their pressing questions about how to stay healthy, and when Google has them inevitably staring back at the C word (both of them) they have no choice but to turn to comedy.

Enter Brooklyn-based Liz Miele and London-based Maria Shehata, two American stand up comedians who have never had reliable health insurance and are experts at self-diagnosis. They have turned to each other for advice throughout their comedy careers, and they are here to tell you it's going to be ok….probably.

The two share their quarantine hopes and fears, what they’ve googled that week, and weird and undiscussed personal questions, answering each other with absolutely no formal education or knowledge. Plus they hold weekly polls with their listeners about important topics like “Is it weird Liz brushes her teeth with hot water?” And “Was your bra the first thing to go in a quarantine?”

Privacy is not on the table, and they take real issues and silly phobias and have fun with all of it. They discuss the little-known neurological disorder misophonia, that causes sufferers (Maria) to hate something as seemingly inoffensive as gum chewing, and those around them (Liz) have to deal with it. Liz opens up about her depression, a disease that runs in Liz’s family that she currently fears will come back the longer she shares a small studio with her boyfriend. As well as psoriasis, weight gain, whether or not vitamins are real, and can we please continue not hugging people after the outbreak is over? What Maria and Liz lack in real information they make up for in jokes, silly discussions and no copay!
