About Cory Wiegersma

My name is Cory and I run the 68kMLA forum, a long standing community for vintage Apple computers. The site began in November 2001 as a user group for aging Macs. The focus of our community was originally "how do we make use of these second-hand Macs?" and over the years it has shifted to include topics like preservation, archival, reproduction, new development and artistic endeavors. The community serves as a hub for enthusiastic discussion, troubleshooting, development, and trade.

Since taking the reins in 2009 Tyler (our technical administrator) and I have done everything in our power to keep the site alive and ad-free. In 2020 we moved the site from our $450/mo VPS service to more budget oriented hosting on inexpensive hardware at home to curb costs and cut out some of the issues that provider had. What we've found is that it's hard to match the reliability of datacenter hosting at home, and expectations have changed.

So, here's the hook: We would appreciate your help in keeping the site alive. Becoming our patron will help us accomplish these goals:
  • pay for recurring software licensing and domain names
  • pay for hosting in a datacenter to increase site reliability
  • fund community-led projects
  • commission of 68kMLA themed merch and art
  • giving the admins a cup of coffee once in a while
In return for being our patron, you will receive our eternal gratitude, a forum rank, and the ability to set your title.

Thank you!
