We're deep in the heart of our five-year, ten-season project now. Producing this podcast has taught us an enormous amount about the show that we're making and the show that we hope to make as we move forward. We release the show once every two weeks, and it is released right at midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning.

For those of you who are new to '80s All Over, it's a pretty simple idea. We decided that there is a huge amount of nostalgia for the '80s, particularly in terms of movies, but it almost all seems to focus on a small handful of movies. You know which ones. Blade Runner. The Goonies. Anything with Indiana Jones in it. Ahnold. The Monster Squad. It's a list that has become more and more ossified over the last ten years or so, and we decided there had to be an antidote.

After all, both of the hosts of '80s All Over are old enough that they were actually around for the films when they came out originally, and that led us to the idea for the show. We're going through month by month, starting with January of 1980, and reviewing every film released in the US for the entire decade.

Already we've managed to turn our listeners on to tons of movies that were familiar to us but brand-new to them, and it's terrific to see the conversations that have developed around the show.

What has become clear is that this is a very labor-intensive podcast for us. We're tracking down the movies, some of which are completely obscure, we're putting together the research, and we're making sure we cover everything. There's a fair amount of money involved in tracking things down, even if just for digital rentals, and a ton of effort involved.

We are dedicated to continuing to provide a free podcast via iTunes and other outlets, but we need to figure out a way to turn this into something that can support itself. For that reason, we wanted to open this up to a Patreon community. In exchange, we want to provide you a ton of extra content that will make this a vital and interactive community. We want to make sure that you feel rewarded for being part of the show, and we have some great ideas for how to make that work.

So let's do this as a monthly thing. If you'll commit to a certain level of sponsorship, we'll commit to way more than the two episodes of the show you can already expect.

All of our audio content, all of the written content that the Dabney Coleman tier gets to read, and you'll get regular video content recorded by Drew and/or Scott! What kind of bonus content? Well, it'll be about movies, and it'll be tied to the news of the day or recent films we've seen or something about the making of the show. We'll take you behind the scenes as we make the show, and as we find new ways to offer even more to you, the most committed fans of the show.
