About Anna Worden Bauersmith

Welcome to my Patreon page. Thank you for considering supporting my work. I truly appreciate all the love and support from my clients, readers, and followers over the years. After much prodding, I opened this Patreon
as an opportunity for those who want to support me monetarily to do so.
For those who don’t know me, I wear a few different hats.
I am a straw milliner who recreates millinery from different eras in history. I do this by hand, using needle and thread, working in the round as original straw sewers did. I shape my pieces with antique millinery blocks and
blocks I make myself. When on site, I demonstrate how straw was sewn and shaped while sharing the history of the women and children who plaited and sewed the straw.
I am the maker of small things. Pincushions, sewing cases, penwipers, doll accessories, ornaments….. I find these little things relaxing to make. They bring me joy in their small size. Then they bring me more joy when I get to share how they can be made.
I am the author of Fanciful Utility, From Field to Fashion, To Net or Not to Net, and Paisley, Plaid, and Purled as well as an assortment of e-patterns. My series, In Detail, takes an up-close look at original items such as
sewing cases, pincushions, penwipers, and more.
When you boil it all down, I am an educator. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to share my research areas in several venues from history camps to special events at historic sites, from written materials to now
videos in my Whimsy Wednesday series. Your support, whether through Patreon, my shop, or in kind words, helps me continue to research original pieces and techniques, while providing me with a way to make the time
to make, write, and record for you.
