I'm Adam Ford, AKA Adam4d, a Christian, husband, and father who likes to draw comics and things. I make the webcomic Adam4d.com.
I launched the site about 3 years ago to communicate Jesus through a visual, viable, popular medium lacking a distinct Gospel voice–the webcomic. It's continued to grow since then, and currently hundreds of thousands of people from all around the world come to the site every month to view truth delivered via comics, illustrated quotes, and other forms of visual theology. It's pretty crazy and I wasn't really expecting it.
Also crazy: as of the end of November 2014, Adam4d.com is my full-time job (WHOOOOAAAA). My wife and I decided that this is what God wants us to do. There is, however, the small detail of being able to pay my family's (now drastically reduced) bills.
This is where you can help, if you want to.
Patreon is a service that's become quite popular in the webcomic world. Artists use it to get ongoing support directly from their readers, and in return, to offer some rewards to their patrons. It's kinda like Kickstarter, but instead of one big push to fund a single project, it's a method of continuous support from patrons to a content creator whose work they believe in. It's a very cool model and I think it's the direction the world of content-creation is headed. It also happens to be the way Christian ministries have been funded since the early church.
If you believe in what I'm doing and want to help me pay my bills so I can continue to be a professional creator of curiously Christian content, you can sign up to be a patron of Adam4d.com, to donate as little or as much as you want every month to support my work. Even if it's just a dollar or two, every little bit supports me directly and helps me bring Jesus to people through this unique and effective medium. And there are some little rewards for patrons, too.
I get emails all the time from people thanking me for my "ministry" and telling me how my webcomic has affected them. Churches all over the place use my comics in their services, and Bible-study leaders use them as teaching aids. Monthly I get emails from people asking if they can translate my comics into their language. There's something about this format, this visual medium, that resonates with people and affects them in ways words alone cannot, and it's a true joy to be able to produce this content and give it away. I feel like I've just scratched the surface.
Whether or not you decide to become a patron, please know that I'll continue to produce content and it will always be free for everyone to come and read. That's not gonna change. This is just an opportunity for you to support me, help me make more and better content, and become a part of this whole thing. If you believe in what I'm doing, I would be extremely honored and humbled by your support.
Thank you, friends.
