We’re co-hosts Aaron Campbell and Robert Randle and you’ve just heard a brief excerpt from “Rats in the Cellar”… our pilot episode of Adventure Hook.

What’s Adventure Hook you might ask? It’s a podcast about role-playing games, story-telling, and the art of GMing. Every episode, we take a simple idea for a role playing game, like Dungeons & Dragons, and develop it into a scenario that listeners can use for their own one-shot, complete adventure arc, or even base an entire campaign around.

We chose our Adventure Hook topics at random by rolling a d20 and consulting our table of 20 different ideas… and after making it the topic of our next episode; we replace that Hook with a new one chosen from our listener submitted suggestions.

We have collaborated on a number of projects in the past, but one of our favorite things has always been brainstorming game ideas together that we then incorporate into our own RPG campaigns. In fact, those long correspondences became the inspiration for the Adventure Hook podcast!

We love what we do… and we love sharing our creative writing process with the rest of the gaming community even more. We have always been big believers in the positive impact that these collaborative sessions bring to our personal games, and we’re very excited to share that process with you. But more than anything else, we want to create great content for our listeners and the gaming community. With each episode it’s our fervent hope that you come away with at least one good idea that you can use later, ‘round the gaming table’.

Creating Adventure Hook takes resources though - Supplies, equipment, careful strategy, pocket dimensions for hosting the show, silver pieces to pay the devils who lord over those extra-dimensional spaces, great magics to ward ourselves against their infernal influence!… ah-hmm. All these things and more are needed to bring a show like this to life and sustain it for years to come. But relax, please do not worry… we are committed to always releasing our core show for free.
