Discko’s background in community, social, and development led to a number of opportunities over the years, including running social media for the popular Denny’s Twitter account, working as a creative strategist at Tumblr, founding the online publication and community Femsplain, and working on the digital organizing team for the Hillary for America campaign. When the election was over, Discko needed to recover, and turned to self-care apps. “I found myself destroyed mentally afterwards. I wasn’t leaving the house at all. I needed to find a way to get myself back to a grounded normal state,” they said. Discko then tried a number of other self-care apps, but didn’t feel any of them did the trick. “I didn’t find myself really keeping with it. I either forgot about the app, or I felt like they were shaming me, so I deleted them right away,” Discko said. “I couldn’t find one that felt like it worked for my personal needs – I’m a sensitive person. I work best with positive, encouraging reinforcement,” they added." You can help make it happen!
Meet Aloe Bud, your self-care pocket companion.
Whether you’re having a stressful day at work or you’re trying to relax at home, getting a notification that says “Breathe; it’ll be okay” might be exactly what you need to get through the day (or even just the hour). Aloe Bud makes it easy to set up reminders like this to remind you to do all kinds of activities, like drinking water, reaching out to talk to a friend, taking your medication, and getting up to move around.
Now that Aloe Bud has launched, we couldn’t be happier with the reception — the app has been featured in the App Store, TechCrunch, and Bustle, and has received lots of positive feedback online.
We’re glad you like it as much as we do! 😊
We were also lucky to work with such a talented team of people. Making the app wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of all of these fine folks!

Reviewed 4.9 in App Store!
"Overall, I think this app is awesome! It’s super easy to figure out, has a clean and simple layout, and an aesthetic I can appreciate. I love the pixel style and the bright colors, which really set it apart from the sleek and smooth designs that most apps these days have. After using it for a couple of weeks, it has served me very well, because it’s so easy to customize it to suit your own needs. I definitely recommend you give it a try because it finds a way to be helpful for everyone." - Self-care 101 by Carole Lynn
