ThorsBFF
$5
per month
You'll get all the Thorsfriend benefits:
  • Access to cut scenes, peeks at in progress projects, and behind the scenes thought processes/frustrations as I draft new stories and novels
  • Cover art designs in-process! While I'm still toying with making it perfect, before the big reveal of the final product.
  • The occasional stand-alone short story, but let me be real and up front: this is going to be rarer because my brain doesn't generally do "short" as a rule. That said, hope springs eternal.

AND
  • Access to the above short stories, such as they are, as downloadable files for reading on your favorite e-reading device. (This could be a pdf, or a mobi/epub option, depending on the work.)
  • Bonus content for my existing works (novelettes and novellas that fit between/before/after the books that are already out)  released to you as downloadable files (mobi/epub) BEFORE they go live on Amazon and other e-tailers.* This could be Fate of the Gods, Orc Saga, or Helen of Sparta-series related. (I've got at least one of these in progress right now, related to Helen of Sparta--completion and publication still tbd, and have already released TWO Fate of the Gods novellas--as limited time offers--to ThorsBFF patrons!)

*These downloads may only be available for limited periods to accommodate any later exclusivity agreements for digital distribution--basically, if I want to enroll it in KDPselect, it can't still be available here, so I'll give you a window in which to grab yours and then kill the link. They might also be e-ARC editions, vs the final final polished version for sale.

About

Hi, Patrons!

My name is Amalia Dillin, (I also write under the name Amalia Carosella when the mood strikes!) and I'm an author of Mythic Fantasy, Romance, and Historical Fiction--sometimes all three in one series, like my Fate of the Gods trilogy.

I believe in writing novels that are authentic to my experience of my faith (hard polytheist Heathen/Norse Pagan) and giving the people of the past the benefit of the doubt and the courage of their convictions--just as the gods live for me in the present, I absolutely believe they lived, breathed, and influenced the people of the past. It isn't fantasy--it's faith.

Centering the experience of pagans in my books is important to me, even a calling, not just as representative of my own lived experience, to share what I've learned and lived, but also to give other pagans stories that reflect themselves and their own struggles. If I can help normalize the pagan experience across the board, for everyone, all to the good. If my work can be the hand up to someone wrestling with their faith, wondering if they're losing their mind because their experiences don't fit into the paradigm they were raised with--that's a job well done.

But it isn't work I can do in a vacuum. Research and production cost, and creating a space for works like mine isn't easy, either. My income doesn't cover the expense of publishing anymore--research books and trips, conferences to network and make a case for representation and perspectives like mine--it all takes money, and not having it makes it harder to continue to work forward. What I need now is to keep it sustainable--to make my income match the expense of continuing to publish and write.

By supporting me, you're supporting every pagan who has had to search the fantasy aisle to find works representing their faith that should be on the historical fiction shelf, and found that search demoralizing. You're supporting an explicitly non-Christian perspective in a world that does its best to drown us. You're helping other pagans find one another, and find strength in seeing some representation of their own (wildly variable and individual) faith, at last, on the virtual shelf.
Goals
$40 of $50 per month
At this sustained level of pledging, I can afford my every-other-year trip to the Historical Novel Society conference to continue to talk to other authors and readers about the importance of including pagan perspectives of the past--and why the inclusion of pre-Christian gods and even divine magic in historical fiction set in pre-Christian societies matters so much. Thank you so much for making it possible!
