About Angel Rose Artist Collective

We are Angel Rose Artist Collective, a Two-Spirit-led Artist collective that centers healing justice for Two-Spirit and Trans & Intersex BIPOC communities, through writing, performance, crafts, education, and artist advocacy. We are named after Angel Rose, a Nahua Trans Woman, artist, sister, friend, and community member who passed away on December 10, 2019. Her legacy lives on through our work.

Since 2015, we have produced a variety of shows, collaborating with other local Native American organizations, and spreading awareness about the importance of proper representation of Native folx. In 2018, we became a part of theatreWashington's emerging theater company program; a 2-year adjudicated process that allows a professional theater company in the DC Metropolitan area to become eligible for theatreWashington's Helen Hayes Awards.

Our Main Stage Theater Productions have included: The Cosmic Twins [2018, Emergence Community Arts Collective] and Siwayul (Heart of a Womxn) [2019, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop]. Our Second Stage Theater Productions have included: Protect & Preserve [2018, DC Queer Theatre Festival; 2019, District Vox], Lxs Gemelxs Cosmicx/The Cosmic Twins [2019, Georgetown Day School, Mundo Verde Public School, The Festival Center], Siwayul (Heart of a Womxn) [2019, Georgetown Day School, University of Maryland- College Park, Eaton DC].

Our Artist Revues include: Two-Spirits Belong Here [The DC Center, The Potter's House, Swazzy Nights,] Trans-Latinx Power [Trans-Latinx DMV], Womxn/Muxer [Anacostia Playhouse]. We have presented performances, visual arts presentations, and workshops with: Transgender Assistance Program - Virginia, George Washington University, Femmex DC, May is All About Trans..., #Camp50 at Eaton DC, The DC Weirdo Show, Swazz Events, Taking the Stage Voice Against Violence, OutWrite.

We have also published several books by Two-Spirit Authors, including: Xemiyulu Manibusan Tapepechul (Metzali: Siwayul Shitajkwilu; My Woman Card is anti-Native; The Cosmic Twins; Siwayul (Heart of a Womxn)); Ahanu (From The Blood); and Ahanu, Celina Aichi, Xuchit Alas, Maria Aragon, Jas Battle, Maleny Crespo, Jen Deerinwater, Johanna Elaina Googoo, Jei Herald-Zamora, Jimena Lucero, Ximena Ospina, Alexa Rodriguez, Benicio Rodriguez, Ricky Rosé, Xemiyulu Manibusan Tapepechul, Josephine Vallejo, and Pablo Ventura (Two-Spirits Belong Here/Lxs Dos-Espiritus Merecen Estar Aqui; Two-Spirits Belong Here).

On our Patreon, we post a variety of things, including: Daily Themed Posts (Motivation Monday, Two Cents Tuesday, Word of the Week Wednesday, Theater Thursday, Feel Good Friday, Spotlight Saturday, Short Story Sunday), video performances, podcasts, graphics, full-length teasters, and so much more!
