Milestone Goals
Keep the lights on
We are basically publishing this site for free right now, with just a little cash coming in from our existing patrons. We can't continue this way for long. Help us reach the $2,000 monthly Patreon goal, and we'll be able to continue. If we cannot achieve and sustain that level, all bets are off for our continued existence.
A weekly podcast
Want to see Dennis, Steve and guests chatting about whatever great news we've heard over the past week? We'll get together, invite guests, and have a fun 30-minute podcast if you help us get to this level.
Forums
One thing that our previous sites never had? Forums. Online discussion groups where people can share their knowledge, their questions, and their opinions. At this level, we'll be able to provide limited Patron-only discussion forums. And you, Apple World Today reader, will gain the benefit of having your own online brain trust to answer your questions.
No More Ads
At this level, Dennis and Steve feel that they're making enough money from the site that they don't have to worry about advertising revenue anymore, so they'll remove all advertisement from the site.

Hello. We’re Steve Sande and Dennis Sellers. Steve was a former editor at The Unofficial Apple Weblog, or “TUAW” from 2009, and Dennis has been involved with MacCentral, Macsimum News, and Apple Daily Report since 1998. Sad to say, all of those other sites were either shut down or acquired over the years and no longer exist.
The thing is, we’re not done yet. And that’s why we’ve made Apple World Today. We pride ourselves on providing our readers with well-written, well-sourced news and information, as well as detailed reviews of apps and accessories.
We want to keep doing it, with a site that’s all our own. A fresh start with the concise reliability you knew at the other sites, plus new features and ideas we weren’t able to put into action before. We’re going to make a fantastic resource for everyone who loves Apple’s products as much as we do, from the new customer buying their first iPad to the developer with years of experience. Now that we’re on Patreon, you can directly support our site and our staff.
As of today, we’re changing our Patreon goals - again. We need patrons to do this work full-time, and our current level of support — although greatly appreciated — isn’t enough to do that. So we’re asking you to step up your game and we’re also making our goals more attainable.
To keep the doors open and the lights on, we need at least $2,000 per month in Patreon pledges. As of September 29, 2015, our patrons are kicking in $1693.49 per month. We are SO close! We need for our current patrons to step up and increase their support, and we need new patrons — or we can’t continue to operate.
At $2,250 per month, we’ll throw in a weekly podcast with the two of us (and some guests) talking about current tech news with a focus on Apple.
Bump us up to $2,500 per month, and we’ll add forums available ONLY to Patreon backers.
Make it $4,000 and we'll never have an ad on Apple World Today again.
These goals aren’t that lofty, and we need to get at least to the $2,000 level to continue. If you are a current patron, we thank you and ask you to consider raising your monthly pledge. We’ll also be sending out a plea for new Patreon backers.
Now some FAQ:
Will there be a podcast?
There already is. Steve does the AWT News Update every day, bringing Apple news stories to listeners and readers in less than five minutes a day. We would love to add a fun, 30-minute weekly podcast or more to the mix.
Will there be sponsorships and ads?
We tried sponsorships; they didn’t work. We’re currently partnering with an ad company to start getting some ad revenue. If that doesn’t start coming in soon… Don’t worry, we will approve every ad that goes on the site so we won’t have trash cluttering up the pages. And hey, if you happen to know any millionaires who would like to buy a one-time sponsorship to the site for just $1.5 million, send them our way.
Who designed that great logo?
That would be Aaron Mahnke of Wet Frog Studios. He worked to create a memorable and recognizable logo in just days while suffering from vertigo. Give him your business!
What are the benefits to backers?
-- You have a direct line to us via Patreon. Let us know what you're thinking and we'll respond to you folks before non-supporters.
-- Sneak peeks at videos we're working on.
-- Your very own Slack account where you can hang out with us as we work!
Thanks so much for your support. We’re excited to bring you a site of our own, with the consistency and reliability you remember from our previous endeavors!
