Areo is a non-partisan digital magazine focused on current affairs — in particular: Humanism, Culture, Politics, Human Rights, Science, and, most importantly, Free Expression.

We believe in the unfettered freedom to explore, think, and challenge ideas and concepts, and we’re intent on taking part in the conversations that will shape our tomorrow.

Areo contributors are politically and ideologically diverse and have included scientists, historians, philosophers, political scientists, mathematicians, academics, students, cultural critics, and human rights campaigners. What we seek are strong arguments: well-written, well-evidenced and thought provoking essays on a variety of topics.

Areo was founded by Malhar Mali who is now off to pastures new, although he will continue to be a contributor and friend to Areo. I will be stepping into his shoes from the 28th June and I intend to uphold his ethos for it. Areo will remain non-partisan, humanist, rationalist, evidence-based and committed to individual freedom and human rights.

The survival of Areo depends on the generosity of our patrons. 251 of you wonderful people made it possible for Areo to pay writers and commission pieces, pay for fact checking and editing and cover hosting and promotion. I hope that you will continue to support Areo as it goes into new management so we can survive and flourish and produce more of the original arguments that make you think.

Thank you,
