About Art Van Grow
Hi, I'm Amanda and this is Crystal 2.0 my tiny house on wheels! I live full time on the road & live a very minimalist lifestyle. I wake up everyday and try to live my very best life while inspiring others to do the same.
About Amanda: Traveling is my passion, I know that sounds cliche & you are probably thinking "Oh great, another basic b!tch account". However, traveling is one of the few things that make me want to wake up everyday and live. I have been traveling since before I could remember. When I was younger I traveled with my family to various states, but when I turned 18 and I got my passport all bets were off! I have now visited 33 States, left the country 6 times, have lived in over 20 different dwellings and lived in 8 different cities. I am your modern day gypsy, but I believe they are calling us nomads.
Five years ago I got rushed into emergency surgery to save my life & when I woke up life was completely different for me. Two months after my 21st birthday, the abs I had worked so hard on was replaced by over 20 staples down my abdominals. Learning to walk again took months and not being able to finish the semester at WVU was rough. The age I anticipated so hard on hitting, was shattered when my doctor told me to never drink again. Everyone tried to put me in a bubble because I just couldn't stop getting sick after surgery being around all the germs in college. I took this as an opportunity. I just witnessed for myself how easily life can be taken from you, and I knew my chances just got progressively higher after surgery. I knew that working a 9-5 and only having a few times a year to travel would not be enough for me. I believed there was a better way to live life so you can actually enjoy the beautiful things that makes life so unique. So I finished my degree in Forensic Science with a minor in Sociology at WVU, I paid off my hefty unfair amount of student debt while bartending & running a bar in NYC, and I saved up for my really big, yet tiny move.
There is a universal understanding of travel, art, music, and handmade crafts. It is inspiring to know that even though there are so many cultural differences around the world and the USA that so many people still enjoy and understand some of the same simple, beautiful things life has to offer. In all of my travels thus far, I have been inspired by the beauty of art, music, and those who live to create and live their lives for themselves! I hope to continue to shop and support local and small businesses throughout my travels, as well as setting up my website in the future to support my favorites along the way. I am hoping in the next few months to start drawing and painting more again and having my art up here as well to share with everyone!
