I've been writing, off and on, all my life. I'm taking the opportunity provided by Patreon to go further with my dream of getting my writing in front of more people.

If you like speculative fiction, science fiction, or future fiction that dabbles in ethics, inside the framework of human curiosity and effort, I think you'll really like what I write! I carefully edit and revise my writing for a couple weeks, getting advice from several friends who read much of my work and tell me what works and what doesn't. I don't take writing lightly. But I also try not to take myself too seriously.

I've posted a link (below) to a free novella--"The Mission of the Maria Celeste"--in a science fiction series I'm writing called 'The History of the Cartographer Colonies.' This series, inspired by Ray Bradbury's 'Martian Chronicles' will be my primary focus for the foreseeable future of my Patreon's existence. I have written five stories in the series, so far, and plan for another five to ten stories. I expect to release one or two stories every month. Some of these stories will be novellas, but most will be between 5,000 and 8,000 words. (Side note: Content won't run dry after HCC--I have another seven-story series in mind to follow this series.)

If you support my writing here, I will make sure to give you thoughtfully-written fiction that has been revised with diligence and care. I love writing and I love exploring all that can be explored in the genres of speculative and science fiction, where people face troubling, bizarre, or beautiful things.

I hope you enjoy "The Mission of the Maria Celeste" and that you come back for more!

Of course, you can always just take a leap and see what it's all about on the other side of becoming a patron... ;)

Awesome! You must have been quite impressed by my first novella. For this level of generosity, you'll have access to the stories in this series, as well as PDFs with my annotations and notes (about why people have the names, histories, or quirks they do; about what inspired a given scene; and maybe even how I would film such a scene if I were making a movie out of it). I hope you enjoy it!

As always, don't hesitate to share your feedback with me. I'm really excited to hear what really stuck out to you. Thanks!

Whoa! I feel like you must really like space exploration. You do, don't you? I feel like you might like your story to come with a map of where these events occur, huh? I love maps. And I really like pen and ink. So, you'll get a PDF of hand-drawn maps of the location of each [major] event in the story. Some of these maps will be of orbiting space stations in Jupiter's lunar system, some will detail the trip between several stations on Mars, and some will span a long path through the Sahara toward the coast of West Africa.

I LOVE maps! I'll happily draw as many maps as I can for each story. I hope they're helpful to you as you step into this universe with me.

(Though this will not be a retroactive reward by default, you can always request previous maps from earlier stories, including 'The Mission of the Maria Celeste.')

Holy crap, you are amazing! For such amazing-ness, you will receive not only access to the stories themselves, but also the annotated PDFs ($3 tier), PDFs of the hand-drawn maps ($6 tier), and now a small chapbook printed off just for this reward tier! I'll mail you a signed copy of each novella and every 15,000+ words I publish. Sometimes there'll be two longer stories, but a lot of the time it'll be three of the normal length stories. This means you might have to wait a month or two between chapbooks, but I'll be sure to communicate that with you all.

I hope you like collections of short fiction... because that's what you'll have when all is said and done. Naturally.

(This WILL be applied retroactively, so I will send you 'The Mission of the Maria Celeste' in this format, as well as all other chapbooks published before your sponsorship began. Thanks so much!)

You love your name... now I love your name! If you support me at this tier, you'll get everything offered at lower tiers (annotated PDFs, maps, and signed chapbooks) PLUS your name in the acknowledgements of the final product: the independently-(or self-)published collection of all 10-15 stories in 'The History of the Cartographer Colonies'! Get pumped, people!

That would be an incredible thing for me, personally, to receive a shout-out from a creator I appreciate. So... I'm stroking my ego by letting you stroke your ego. Sound like a plan? I thought so. Thanks so much!

As of right now, I can't imagine a more wildly generous person than you! I write stuff and you read stuff and you give me this much money. Clearly you're an avid reader (or you're my mom... but mom, if you read this, no pressure--I promise). You will get ALL of the things from the other reward tiers. But not only that: You also get to join me and others who sponsor me at this tier for a Google Hangout approximately once a month! I'll shoot for this lasting between 30 and 45 minutes (maybe an hour on special occasions). You'll be able to ask me anything you want, like:

What other things am I writing? What does the moon look like from where I live (I have pictures)? What's my favorite book [this month]? What's my favorite color?

Red.

There, I gave you a freebie. ;)

Sponsor me at this tier for more where that came from!

At this point, it will appear that I have a new readership and I can afford to get a new computer with a fully functional keyboard, bigger screen, and much more memory. Right now, I write on a small tablet, with a USB keyboard and RF mouse, which is a cumbersome setup to travel with and/or remember every piece of.

If people are interested in my work enough to fund this, I'll also hold a contest in which everyone gets to submit and/or vote on an idea that you want to see me write about and I'll provide that story for every Patron!
