I'm Asylumstar ♡
First let me start off with telling you a bit about myself:
I'm a 25 year old, glitter obsessed, professional make up artist, cosplayer and performer from Glasgow, Scotland!
I've been a professional make up artist working in the industry for 5 years now, I've worked on theater productions and films, as well as many fashion shoots and weddings. I even had the opportunity to work with my favourite make up brand Sugarpill at IMATS (International Make up Artist Trade Show) in 2015. My main passion in make up is for the weird and wonderful - anything theatrical and avant garde is my calling and I love creating fantasy based looks using methods of special effects, rainbows of colour and of course, loads of glitter!
I studied make up artistry for 3 years at college and gained all the necessary qualifications, as well as taking a fourth year to study 3D design to learn model and prop making techniques to apply to my make up work and help further my skill set within my trade.
I first started cosplaying a good few years ago, it consisted of quickly (not very well) thrown together costumes. Back then I didn't have much of an outlet to express my love of creating and wearing said cosplays of my favourite characters from comic books, games and movies as I wasn't very aware of the cosplay scene in general, let alone the one right on my doorstep. The past couple of years I began attending conventions around the UK, such as London MCM, as well as many smaller local events in Scotland. They were so much fun and through these events I've made so many amazing and talented friends within the cosplay community worldwide. This has only strengthened my love and passion for the art.
Within the past year I have been extremely lucky to have been invited to guest at certain comic and gaming events. I'm so incredibly grateful (and ridiculously flattered) that anyone would think my costumes - and myself, were deserving of such a wonderful opportunity. This has given me a push to seriously up my game in the cosplay department and strive to improve my skills.
I've always been into the performing arts since I was kid, I loved the theatre, singing and most of all dancing! I attended all sorts of dance classes as well as competing and placing at national level as part of my old cheerleading sqaud. When I was 18 years old I went along to a few burlesque classes with a friend, just for a bit of fun, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Everything from the glitzy costumes and the total confidence boost it gave me to see that anyone could actually do something like this and look awesome while doing so! The classes stopped running after a while and I struggled to find any others so nothing much came from it for the next few years and it was kind of forgotten about during my years at college, until last year. New opportunities arose for me to get myself up on stage and I jumped at the chance! Since then I have been performing at burlesque, and now also drag shows, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be back pursuing something I love.
Why should anyone consider supporting Asylumstar?
You're probably wondering why you should even consider pledging to me, what's in it for you?
Well, as a lot of you may know costuming, alongside prop making and the likes can get expensive - currently I'm saving for a mortgage to buy my own home so a lot of my extra cash that would otherwise be spent on cosplay builds now had to be saved for the the future! With the help of Patreon funding I can continue to purchase products and materials required to create wonderful costumes and content for you guys! Patrons will have access to exclusive content which will only be available right here.
Content will include some build process updates alongside mini tutorials and tips which will not be shared on my public Facebook page, as well as some Patreon exclusive photoshoot images - and the lewd stuff!
Further details for what you'll receive for each tier can be found on the 'Rewards' section.
To those of you choosing to pledge an extra special thank you, it absolutely means the world to me that you would even consider helping me achieve my goals and I appreciate every little bit of support! ♡
