We are BEMBA PR, a self-organize and self-manage social political street art collective working public space around the island of Puerto Rico. Our focus is political participation and social engagement through street art in the oldest colony of the world currently going through the biggest economic, political and social crisis in its history. Austerity measures, hostil social cuts, closing of hospitals and schools, social repressions and mediatic violence is the norm in our country.

In 2014, we decided to start this project as a response to our repressive and decaying context, in which we propose that through street art we can organize ourselves, participate politically and influence the public sphere, communicate effectively with each other, express our ideas and claims in a pacific way, make visible social issues that affects our communities and make public accountability for those individuals, corporations and institutions responsible for the existence and perpetuation of those issues.

As full-time street artists, it has been challenging to sustain our project economically. On occasions we are forced to moments of inactivity in the search for funds that allow us to continue our artistic and political work.
Our goal with this page is to create a support network for our project, a way to collectively generate seed income that can allow us to focus more on our social political work and its impact in public space.

By becoming a monthly “patreon” you help us create, produce and impact with our street art. This support will grant us with a base fund for material, time and space to focus on our work, and rhythm to continue.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to everybody that has already become part of our mission.
