Is Anxiety Preventing You from Living Your Best Life?

“I envision a world wherein suffering from anxiety doesn’t exist."

Hi, I'm Dr. Barry Morris, but my friends call me Baz.
I'm a former practicing physician, and the author of several books, including The Practical Buddhist: Buddhism Without the Robes & Ritual and the soon to be released, Let That Sh*t Go: A Brief Practice Guide to Calming Your Mind Before Bed and Getting the Rest Your Crave

"My background includes university and medical school training as a physician and a certification in stress and anxiety coaching. As a former practicing physician who helped patients walk without pain, I’m now drawn to help those who suffer from anxiety. I’m drawn to this path because of my own anxiety challenges and because my mission has always been to help others eliminate their suffering.”

Anxiety can include many symptoms, including feelings of dread, uncertainty about life and career issues. Anxiety and panic attacks are the two most common complaints in our time, but they are only two stress-related illnesses. Others that could also manifest include:
  • memory impairment
  • depression
  • skin conditions, such as eczema
  • difficulty sleeping
  • obesity
  • heart disease
  • digestive problems
  • autoimmune diseases

IF LEFT UNTREATED, ANXIETY IS A KILLER

Anxiety and stress can wreak havoc in our daily lives at any time with or without warning. I've suffered from panic attacks, facial tics in my younger years, stress-related stomach ailments causing me to be hospitalized from an early age. I was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in the early 2000s after a 15-year struggle through a relationship where I was the target of domestic violence. I only survived these experiences with the help of family and mental health professionals who truly cared.

HOW CAN YOU FIGHT BACK?
Fighting back is part of the problem. As I write in my first blog post here on Patreon, by resisting what we experience, we engage in fighting with ourselves. More on that topic later, but ultimately you will need to seek some form of therapy and treatment. Very few make it through such a challenging period alone.

However, there are many ways to confront anxiety without fighting with ourselves, including meditation and mindfulness practices, medication (when warranted), counseling with therapists experienced in diagnosing and treating anxiety and stress disorders, nutritional supplements and support, to name a few.

SOME OF US GIVE UP TOO EASILY
But because we don't receive immediate relief, most of us give up on treatment far too early and easily. We live in an age of instant gratification and we expect immediate results at the same speed as our Internet connection. Even with my medical training, I’ve been there, too. I’ve given up, only to fight back even harder. But fighting with ourselves isn't the best option and will only prolong our misery and suffering.

WHY ENGAGE A STRESS & ANXIETY COACH
Mental health issues are serious, and there are many ways to seek information and assistance. You can see a therapist, consult with your physician (both are activities I fully support*). But not everyone is ready to get the help they need.

"I help clients uncover their anxiety triggers and form new coping behaviors via face-to-face and online coaching to eliminate the suffering that accompanies their symptoms.”

"My practice is about supporting you with videos, posts, and other materials that provide the encouragement and strength you need to get to the place where you'll make an informed decision about seeking whatever treatment you feel is appropriate for you."

Thank you for visiting and may you experience less stress, anxiety and a greater peace this day.

Namaste,

Baz
