Welcome to our Patreon Page! Thanks so much for taking the time to check it out, we’re incredibly excited to bring you our field recording sessions and mini-doc-style films, featuring the creative community of independent roots music!

As roots music documentarians—we’re on a journey to prove a theory — that music, art and creativity make the world a better place and that human expression has no borders.

Our greatest creative aspiration is to document and celebrate roots music in all the places that it exists, near and far—from big stages and festivals to an old-time fiddler’s kitchen.

With our documentary series and field recordings we strive to explore the way in which roots and folk music connect us all, no matter what our individual origin stories are.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO: We champion independent roots music. We consider the artists we feature in both the film series and the field recordings to be our partners, and we do not collect money from them for this work. Every artist we feature has full usage of the finished content to help promote and further their own careers. Our goal is to build a stable revenue stream to sustain this content with the direct support of YOU, our patrons! By supporting us via Patreon you are directly contributing the careers and success of burgeoning artists.

MINI-DOCS: The documentaries feature a combination of live music performance and interviews with both up-and-coming artists and established veterans as well as in-depth looks at some of the venues, festivals and artists that make up the vibrant fabric of this genre.

Our first season of mini-docs (titled "Ear to the Ground") featured Rushad Eggleston, Charlie Parr, The Suitcase Junket, Caffe Lena, The Hoot, Lula Wiles, Mark Erelli, Cricket Blue and Kaia Kater.
You can watch them all here: beehivepro.com/beehivedocs

In our new season we're expanding our exploration to new regions. Our mission is to travel to
out-of-the-way communities, small gatherings and lesser-known locales—places where roots music is a part of the fabric everyday life.

FIELD RECORDING SETS: In addition to the documentaries we are now producing a new "field recording" series. Our goal is be able to provide high-quality video content to document the work of up-and-coming artists and roots music traditionalists—old and young. Each set will feature 2-5 song videos captured in unique locations. See examples here: beehivepro.com/fieldrecordings

We're proud to report that our friends at FolkAlley.com are giving us a platform to showcase this work. However this work is produced and funded independently. That's why we need Patron's like you. Check out us out on FolkAlley: Field Recordings and Documentaries

HOW PATREON WORKS: Patreon is a crowd-funding platform that supports ongoing creative projects. Unlike Kickstarter (where you donate, say, $25 once), Patreon helps supporters donate ongoing amounts at any level each time (in our case) a new mini-doc or set of field recordings is released. You can set your level as low as $1 per film episode / field recording set, and even set a monthly maximum so you’re never charged more than what you want to contribute. Think of it as your insider subscription to the best of independent roots music.

We release our films and field recording sessions to our Patrons first. Its our earnest way of saying "Thank you!" On a later date, we present them to the public ... but our Patrons always receive the premier first. Every time we release a new episode or live video set or create a post, Patrons receive notifications by email, or the super handy Patreon mobile app. Want to see what we've done so far? Click "Creator Posts" (floating just above our video on this page.)

(Still a bit muddled? No problem! There's a great little video below that quickly explains the in's and out's of Patreon.)

Your patronage will...

  • Directly support the careers of up-and-coming roots artists. The more Patreon support we have, the more artists we can create quality content for at no cost to them. It's that simple.
  • Provide you with exclusive access to previews of each episode prior to its release, plus extras like behind the scenes footage, photos, and even special edition director's cuts!
  • Allow you to interact with us directly through blog posts: Ask us questions! Make comments! Even suggest artists, people and places you know of for new episodes!
  • Give you the warm and fuzzy feeling that you are supporting independent art!
  • We will also be periodically making - and sending out - limited edition BeehivePro.com swag (i.e. prints, stickers, t-shirts and other great creative things to show our gratitude to our supporters)!

Goals
$71 of $500 per Film or Field Recording set
Keeping the wheels turning
We’re proud that we’ve been able to produce a ton of quality content on a shoestring budget at little or no cost to artists. However, in order to keep doing this (and ultimately do more of it) we need help from outside resources.
Reaching a $500 goal would enable us to produce our mini-doc series monthly as well as produce more video field recordings for artists at no cost to them.
