Bible Mountain

is creating videos, devotionals, and essays.
Bible Mountain exists to increase Biblical literacy so that we Christians can live more meaningful lives and have better churches.

When I was about 11 years old I noticed that my church was mostly ignoring the Old Testament. One day I picked up a Bible, held the Old Testament in my left hand, and the New Testament in my right hand. I saw that the Old Testament makes up about 70% of the Bible. This meant my church was ignoring over half the Bible. It seemed obvious to me there was something wrong with that.

When I was a teenager I saw that Christianity was becoming less and less relevant in our society, and society was becoming more and more secular and immoral. Even worse was the fact that Christians were becoming more and more secular and immoral. I always believed our church leaders should have an answer for these trends, but it was obvious they did not, and the trends have continued unabated.

As an adult I have observed an increased sense in people both inside and outside the church that life has no meaning. This angst is partly responsible for the addictions, mass shootings, and suicides we see in our world. I fervently believe Christianity has answers for this hopelessness and it pains me deeply that our churches are so inept at addressing this basic human need to have meaning and purpose in life.

Throughout my life I have seen a lot of "church hopping" and I watched many Christians drop out of church altogether. In many ways I don't blame them. I am as frustrated with church as they are. If it weren't for Hebrews 10:25 telling us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together I would have dropped out of church a long time ago. Many people have said to me over the years that this is just the way church is; however, I refuse to believe that church has to be frustrating.

Starting on the day I held the two testaments in my two hands, I have spent countless hours pondering the meaning and value of the whole Bible, the solution to Biblical illiteracy, the solution to our anemic churches, and the untapped potential Christianity has to help people solve their angst and hopelessness. Along the way I lived in Jerusalem, Israel for a year to study the Bible in the land of the Bible at the Institute of Holy Land Studies. After that I earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible from Lancaster Bible College. In my lifetime I have read every book of the Bible at least 40 times. I taught adult Sunday school for many years and taught from half the books of the Bible.

Bible Mountain is my online platform to share my knowledge of the Bible, my love of the Bible, my conviction that it is possible to have better churches, and my conviction that being a Christian is the best way to live life, even though it is not an easy way to live life. Join Bible Mountain today and help me increase Biblical literacy so that we Christians can live more meaningful lives and have better churches.
