About Black Market
What do I do?
My name is Nate Bridges, I’m a recording engineer, and I’ve been honing my craft for almost two decades. I trained under Brian Wallace at Rockwell Sounds in Atascadero, CA, graduated with Bachelors and Masters Degrees from The Berklee College of Music, and went on to work for two years at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA. All throughout those experiences I’ve been doing freelance work and creating records with friends and clients from around the world. I’d like this page to be a place where fans of Black Market and readers of my blog on Highnoonaudio.com can come and support my work.
What is Black Market Dub?
Black Market is an ongoing dub and reggae remix project that I started as a student at Berklee in Valencia. My basic thesis for the project is this: What would happen if The Beach Boys had The Wailers as their backing band instead of The Wrecking Crew? What if David Bowie spent the summer of 1975 in Kingston, Jamaica with King Tubby instead of Philidelphia? Michael Jackson meets Scratch Perry?
These questions form the backbone of Black Market. I make these albums for free but accept donations here and at blackmarketdub.bandcamp.com
What is 'Wax On Wax'?
Wax On Wax is a weekly blog where I curate music based around a specific theme. I usually will pick four albums to review, critique and analyze, accompanied by Spotify playlists so you can listen along. Readership is strong, and I'm looking to create a vibrant space where we can discuss and discover new music together.
