Greetings to all.  My name is Michelle Nicole Abadia. I currently reside in Brighton, Massachusetts, but am originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico. I live in a nice 1-bedroom apartment with no kids, husband or pets. i am 45 years of age, and have been totally blind since the age of 5 as a result of Congenital cataracts. i suffered through 5 eye surgeries to try and keep the little sight I used to have. However, and in spite of this physical challenge, I've been truly blessed to have a very supportive family, some wonderful friends, and a life full of great adventures.  i consider myself to be strong, adventurous, as good, empathic and kind a friend as I can be, somewhat goofy, professional, a hope-filled dreamer and a person who wishes to learn from and share her life experiences.  I am currently a soprano vocalist, an acoustic guitarist and a recording artist. I'm also a professor of Spanish and french. I am fluent in English, Spanish and French, with some function of german. I have taught all levels of language at the college level, and currently, I am teaching at a centre for adult education.  Music, though, has always been my passion, my purpose in life, and my only source of true light. It nearly saved me once I became sightless. It was through my singing and playing the piano at age 5 that I was able to share my life and feelings with the world. I attended a very prestigious children's choir to learn music theory, the piano, the guitar, the recorder, and of course, to begin my training as a classical singer. By age 12, i had become both a soloist at cocktail parties and any other social gathering. I received first prize at two international singing competitions and participated in various local tv and radio shows.  I combined my passion for music with my love of languages by completing a double-major in French literature and vocal studies at Boston College. i then completed a masters degree in French literature and another one in vocal performance from the new England conservatory of Music. For 25 years, I have been both teaching and concertizing, until 2014, when I decided to pursue my dreams of becoming a full-time musician head on.  With the birth of social media, I have been very present on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Google plus. i give updates on my life, upcoming concerts, and I've managed to record 3 Cds and to put up many concert videos for public viewing.  While all this has been happening, I've developed and have been diagnosed with major mental issues;, such as profound depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, some symptoms of Obsessive, Compulsive disorder and Borderline personality disorder, as well as body dysmorphic disorder. Of course, there isn't just one simple cause for all this; and there have been many layers of emotions that have been uncovered. Unfortunately, my mental issues have put my financial stability and the realization of my most cherished musical dreams in jeopardy.  I've had to work much less due to my mental issues; and even when i make great efforts in spreading my music through albums and concerts and to even find more teaching options in spite of medical advice, things just don't seem to be working out.  I found out about "patreon"n page while watching a video of someone with chronic illnesses who uses her patreon page to get the word out about her condition in hopes that she can help someone else. She's already helped me a great deal with her faith and optimism.  I'm not sure if my music and my posts on how blindness, mental illness and my dreams have collided will help anyone. Frankly, I hope so; because I'm going to be open about a lot of stuff i never dreamed I'd share with anyone else, and I would just love for my 3 albums to sell much better, and for the means to buy touring gear and to release more recordings and travel the world.  i hope this gives you an idea of who I am and how I came to be here. I'll expand on some of what I've shared in my goals section.  I thank you so very much for reading.
