About

Hey there!

My name is Britt, and I've been running BlondeNerd.com since 2011. When I'm lurking in my little corner of of the Internet, I like to talk about all things gaming, zombies, and of course, hot wings.

Hey friends!

If you’re reading this, chances are you already know a bit about me. You’ve probably heard my story of working 40 hours a week at a dead-end government agency with people I couldn’t relate to, at a job I couldn't care less about, all while creating and maintaining my video game blog, BlondeNerd.com. And how I ultimately took a scary (yet necessary) leap of faith into the unknown. You can read the story here, but in a nutshell I woke up one day and decided that I was going to quit my job – without much of a gameplan or thought of consequence. (I told you it was scary! Maybe a bit stupid.)

That was a little over two years ago. Since then I’ve mustered up a small social media marketing gig, which I’m grateful for as it pays the bills.

Speaking of bills, I think it’s a common misconception that I’m a “paid” member of this industry; that I’m frequently compensated travel to cover conventions and that I often receive free video games from publishers. To this I laugh and say, “I WISH!”

I don’t make any money from BlondeNerd.com.

But that’s never stopped me, nor will it ever, from spending my time producing content and being involved in this weird, wacky and beautiful industry. I love what I do. Spending my time writing content, creating videos, covering conventions, running giveaways and interacting with you guys and gals are truly the highlights of my day.

So, why run a Patreon?

First, let me say I'm thankful for the success I’ve experienced with BlondeNerd.com and the opportunities it has granted me, all thanks to you, my friends. However, the more I become involved in the industry the more costly it becomes. Patreon is not only a way for you to support my crazy adventures, but it’s a way for me to become closer to you. Your support will help fund travel to new video game conventions, new video content such as “Britt Plays Scary Video Games Drunk!” (that’s a, uh, working title), rad giveaways and more.

But don’t worry. If you choose not donate you can still expect the same amount of weird shenanigans - and then some - you've come to know (and hopefully love)!

Thank you for your support!
