Blue Moon Sanctuary

Blue Moon Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, exists to help animals in need, particularly donkeys, special-needs dogs and cats, and others who are vulnerable or overlooked. (Although we have "equine" in our name, we have expanded into rescuing other species and are in the process of rebranding as "Blue Moon Sanctuary.") We have a 30-acre sanctuary in Central Texas and are currently home to 16 donkeys, 6 horses, 9 miniature horses, 4 cats, 2 pigs, 1 calf, 1 dog, and a rooster named Gordon. We love introducing people to our animals, educating them on proper care and on many of the reasons that animals end up in need, and promoting adoption of special-needs and senior animals. We envision Blue Moon as a sanctuary for both animals and people, where the animals are safe, loved, and cared for, and our human visitors and volunteers can enjoy tranquility and peace out in the country, interacting with and helping our animals.

We have big plans for the future of Blue Moon Sanctuary, including a hospice program, overnight volunteer opportunities, expanded community engagement, improved facilities, and more. These plans require significant funding, in addition to our regular expenses for food, hay, supplies, veterinarian, farrier, and all the other costs of saving and caring for animals. Without constantly bombarding our supporters with requests for donations, we are looking for creative and fun ways that will allow people to make tax-deductible donations while also feeling like a part of our family. Patrons here will be part of a special community with access to news, events, merchandise, and other things before the rest of the world!
