Welcome to the Botanist Patreon page. Thanks for coming in and for your consideration in supporting Botanist's music and art. If you happened to come to this page randomly, Botanist is an avant-garde metal band who's conceptually about Nature as divinity. Botanist is the world's first band to employ hammered dulcimers outfitted with magnetic pickups, on stage, run through distorted amplifiers. The project has released eight albums as of 2019 and has played live in 15 countries. This Patreon page was launched to satisfy two goals. The main one is to help me (Otrebor) cover the cost of doing Botanist, which includes both the one-man and live aspects. Stuff like studio rent, cost of art, paying musicians, audio production and travel can add up to bewildering levels and make doing what an active band is supposed to do quite the challenge. Crowd funding support would remove some of the regular anxiety around this and allow for more focused and frequent musical creation. I want to make and release albums, because it's what makes me happiest. The less I have to rely on non-musical sources of income, the more time I’ll have for creating. Realistically, Botanist can produce 1-3 albums a year for release into the future.  In the past, I tried to use Patreon as a sort of record club. That proved to be unrealistic, and in spite of the enthusiasm of those who contributed, unfortunately it turned out that what practically made more sense would be to just keep releasing all albums to the public — a Botanist exclusive record club just won’t pay for itself at this time!  This time, then, I’m retooling the goals, making them way simpler and streamlined. The intent is to make content that won’t incur any extra costs, something I can give to the fans who want more of an inside track. At this time I’m thinking a monthly newsletter and a year-end Patreon-only musical download, be it unreleased live tracks, demo tracks, videos... I might want to do a podcast every 3 months or so, too.  No pay walls intended. You pay whatever you want and you get it all. There will be no risk in maintaining the output and I get to focus more on the music.  Thank you all for supporting Botanist to make it happen. Otrebor
