I'll keep the sales pitch brief. There are two major things you should know: (1) there is only one reward and that is at the $1 a month level; and (2) I will not charge anyone for months in which I do not release any meaningful content (obviously "meaningful" in this case is subjective, but basically it means at least 30 mins of content, not including channel updates and the like).

Rewards

The only reward is getting your name in the credits at the end of the video. If you don't want your name in the credits, then please let me know.

I'm not a big fan of Patreon rewards. I back quite a few Patreon accounts and I can't think of a single reward or piece of bonus content that I've actually cared about. Rewards just take time away from the creator doing the thing you signed up for in the first place. Hopefully, this doesn't sound like I'm being lazy. I'm not going to work any less just because I don't have any rewards in place. All it means is that I'm going to devote all my time to videos, streams, and reviews, which is likely what you care about.

I also don't want to encourage people to give more than they can afford. $1 a month is actually quite a lot to give to a single creator and I'm more than happy with that. People like to throw out phrases like "$5 is just a cup of coffee." I can't stand that nonsense. That just means coffee is overpriced. I prefer to use analogies along the lines of "Netflix is only $10 a month." $1 a month looks like a huge overpayment for my videos compared to the price of Netflix.

Putting names in the credits is a small reward, however it feels appropriate. If you're paying for the production of the videos then you should be recognized in the credits. I reserve the right to give greater prominence to those who contribute more, but please do not give more than you can afford.

Monthly Charge

While I also do streams and written reviews, I'm sure most of you are here because of the YouTube videos. I generally release one major video a month, however there are months such as June 2018 where it doesn't happen. If there's ever a month where I don't publish a video (or only publish a short video/channel update) then I will not charge my patrons.

I don't want to switch to the per video model because there would always be the temptation to do smaller videos to get more out.

Hopefully, this all sounds sensible. Thanks very much to anyone who watches my content, regardless of whether you decide to become a patron.
