$5 doesn't sound like it makes much of a difference but it truly does.

For every pledge in this tier, I will commit to publishing 1 new blog per month. This is the lifeblood of the new project. We'll need to produce enough baseline content to establish the website and in turn, legitimize the meme brand in the eyes of Facebook (fingers crossed).

Although the site is not up and operational, the moment even a single Blogger pledge rolls in, I'll get right on the webdev needed to get the ball rolling.

About Chris Tweten

I make memes and love to write.

As of 11/06/2020, all of my brands on Facebook have been jeopardized.

My name is Chris Tweten. I'm a Canadian expat living in Bangkok, Thailand.

For the past 6 years, I've had a rollercoaster experience in the meme game. My staple meme brand, Living in Asia Ironically has been hit by the ZUCC 3 times: once at 500k page likes, again at 300k and one more time at 250k. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of Facebook censorship.

This morning, I received Facebook notifications informing me that all my pages and groups are at risk of permanent deletion. For others' comments, not my own posts.

Every single one of them. I've tried to migrate from Facebook in the past but without my full heart into it but now I feel like it's time. I'd love to continue producing the mountains of OC for the communities I've grown over the years but it seems fruitless at this point.

In recent time, Facebook has begun to penalize page and group admins for the comments of those following your posts.

How is this fair, I ask? I run communities the size of small countries and don't have the means to moderate them to the degree Facebook demands. To cope with this, I've managed teams of moderators to keep the peace but it's clearly not enough.

What I'd like to do moving forward is to shift gears into producing satirical news content, with memes as a vessel to promote the website. I feel this will help validate the brands in the eyes of Facebook.

The way I see it is that a meme page selling merch isn't as legitimate in their eyes as an ecommerce shop that posts memes. It's all about framing.

Your contributions will allow me to put these plans into action - bringing my copywriting team onboard to produce content and to free up enough of my time for web development and continue building communities. Right now my time is mostly spent consulting and doing SEO, but I'd love the opportunity to continue producing comedy.

Thanks for all the support over the years. I'm sure I'll still produce memes regardless of this Patreon's success but it just won't be the same.

For now, you can find my content averted from the eyes of the ZUCC man here:
