It's been 7 years since I co-found Painted Brain with my good friend Dave Leon and more than two years of integrating my tech company mentorship program, teaching code to members 18 - 35. Many of these individuals are homeless, rent a couch, sleep in their cars, at the park, and to make matters complicated, experience mental health challenges. I recognized practical skills training programs are scarce amongst most non-profit organizations in Los Angeles. When you visit homeless drop-in centers, homeless shelters, mental health agencies, and non-profit organizations, their skills development training programs consist of janitorial, construction, landscape, and computer literacy skills training. You don't see relevant skills training programs around individuals that are physically disabled or suffering with a mental illness very often. Most computer literacy programs just educate individuals on working with Microsoft Office, basic ways to browse the network for research purposes, and keyboard typing exercises. I'm not shutting down these programs to say they don't hold value but understanding the future can secure this population to land jobs from their homes and sustain an income without relying on government housing, SSI, SSDI, or any other assistant funding programs. I'd love to continue to support our community of homeless youth and individuals living with mental health challenges but dedicating time, gas, education, ears, heart, money from my pocket, can quickly exhaust resources, this is why I'm asking for our global community to support Codie Pie and individuals that want to make a difference. It takes one strong seed to take root and spread across the fields to feed many, join my journey and allow everyone to get a slice of education, self-sufficiency and most importantly change.

Goals
$0 of $7,500 per month
Many individuals that come through our space, complain they don't have a tablet or laptop to take home with them to practice coding. Having a buffer of $7,500 every month can support purchasing inexpensive tablets or Chrome Books to accelerate the learning process and provide stipends with gift cards from Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or Target.
