Welcome. My name is Julio Cotto Rivera. I'm currently illustrating a children’s book about immigration and uniting families. I’m proud to say that it has been mentioned in Rollingstone and other national publications. It’s a passion project that I’m super proud to be a part of. I also making paintings to keep me afloat. I work about 60-80 hours a week on my art. Patronage at any level would be an greatly appreciated and rewarded. I’m temporarily using my tumblr mini bio here. I will soon add more details and a more personal look into my life and what drives me to create art. But for now:
   Cotto's artwork was recently featured in the internationally published pop art books, ART DES GEEKS with Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, GEEK ART Vol. 3 with NYCHOS and GODMACHINE. Julio Cotto Rivera is an American Bronx-born, Southern-raised multimedia artist, actor and writer. The award-winning Puerto Rican artist began his professional art career at age fifteen when he inked and lettered several comic books for indie label Bugged-Out Comics in Greenville, SC. In Charleston, SC he was voted 'Best Local Visual Artist' 2004, 2006 and 2008. He received two Silver Addy Awards in 2005 for his cover illustration for Barfly Magazine. Julio has exhibited in over 100 art shows in the past 15 years, including Charleston Contemporary 2010: INFLUENCE and all Kulture Klash festivals. His first NYC solo show was held at Greenpoint Gallery in May 2014. His artwork is owned by collectors throughout the world. Cotto's paintings can be seen all over Charleston, Brooklyn and the Chelsea Art District in Manhattan. His acting has been featured in several indie films, 'Army Wives' Seasons 3, 4 and 5, Nat Geo's 'Inside the American Mob' and he played DJ Default on Lifetime's 'Anna Nicole Story'.
    The Latino artist spoke at Pecha Kucha Charleston 10. Bill Murray was in attendance.
Julio has donated his time and art to several charities, nonprofits and private fundraisers including Wine to Water, Stoked Mentoring, Camp Create, Sidewalk Chalk, My Sister's House, Hunger Hurts Greenville, Low Country Aids Services, Susan G. Komen Foundation, MUSC Children's Cancer Research Center, Waves for Development, Surfrider Foundation and ASPCA.
