For those of you who don't already know who I am, I am John Bushong. I have spent my life as a bridge of country knowledge for all of those who live in the big city.
With the resurgence of urban homesteading and backyard pet chickens, there is a real need for some good ole fashioned redneck consulting. As they say, everything's on the internet... but let’s face it, there's really too much information out there to easily figure out what's right or what's wrong. If you are reading this, I guarantee you that at least once there's been some simple problem you've had with one of your animals, and you've spent hour after hour on google, or going from forum to forum, and every answer to your question professes to be 100% correct, yet every answer contradicts the one before. It's almost impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff. Well, that’s what I do. I’m your “phone a friend”… your pocket redneck. What is your time and frustration worth to you?
45 years ago, when our family opened Buck Moore Feed, we sat on the outskirts of Austin, and we were primarily country people talking to country people. These days, the big city has grown past us and we now sit in the heart of Austin and bring our own flavor of country to the city. And while we have always been a retail store, what really set us apart is that we have always been the ones who solve those problems unique to urban backyard agriculture. Agriculture is all I’ve ever done, there aren’t many things I haven’t seen, and it’s exactly what I do when I go home to my own homestead. And now that we have decided to close the store, there is a great void for our type of service. Since solving problems and answering questions is the part of our business that I always enjoyed most, I struggled with what to do about it… I really don’t want to quit doing it, or abandon my customers. What I was really looking for is a way for the spirit of Buck Moore Feed to live on… For the spirit of my grandfather to live on through the friendly customer service he was always famous for.
Patreon provided the perfect solution. This simple monthly subscription service is almost tailor made for what I am trying to do. Your few bucks a month, contributed through Patreon, will allow me to continue providing that service we were always famous for, and it’ll allow you to have access to me when you have a problem or need an opinion. The more supporters I have, the more freedom I will have to provide other services as well such as instructional videos shot on my homestead. There are a couple of different support levels available:
- A Patron contributing $5 or more per month will gain access to my Post Archive where they will be able to ask Questions and seek advice by commenting on my weekly Questions post. All of these questions and answers will be available perpetually, which may answer things you never even thought of. This is also where I will post any videos, commentaries, and homestead updates. Anything you don’t want your name on publicly can be sent to me directly, and I will scrub your name from it before I post it.
- A Patron contributing $25 or more will get my “Redneck on Retainer Service”. This includes all access to content available on the previous level, as well as my personal cell phone number so that you can contact me directly on demand (within reasonable hours) or text me just about any time you want. (Limited slots available)
I’m not picky about what you ask me. With very few exceptions, I’ll answer just about anything about just about anything. And while I can’t give you medical, legal, or any kind of advice that would require licensing, what I can do to keep things on the up and up, is I’ll tell what I would do if I had that issue, instead of telling you what you should do. And by becoming a patron, you are agreeing that we are all responsible for our own actions, and all I am offering is my opinion.
We all need a country boy we can call to help figure it out when things get complicated, and I would like to continue to be that for you. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of your support over the years, and what it means to me to be a part of your lives. Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to seeing you as one of my Patrons.
