My name is Stacy Trenary, and I am the owner of Darwin and Wallace: A Nature & Fossil Store. This store is the fruit of my passions as a naturalist, of which I can say started from at least 2 years old. Like so many youngsters, dinosaurs opened up my eyes to an aspect of nature that bordered on fantasy and reality. Though very real, dinosaurs provided so much mystery that I found them endlessly fascinating, and still do. From dinosaurs my interests expanded into other prehistoric animals, then modern animals, then humans and cultures. Indeed it was my interest in prehistoric humans that lead to my degree in Anthropology, though I try to remain a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to other biological sciences, such as paleontology, zoology, biology, and anatomy. I have been fortunate enough to do some traveling for my business (another HUGE passion of mine), which has lead me to dig for fossils in my home state of Florida, as well as Wyoming, England, and Germany. I've also been fortunate to have great mentors in the understanding and application of fossil excavation, skeletal rendering and articulation, insect mounting, and other aspects of natural history preparation.

So what does any of this mean to you? Well, so far, Darwin and Wallace has done decently these first two years of being in business, but the company could use a boost at this point to help propel it further. The majority of D&W's income is from exhibiting at conventions, as well as providing custom-made and scientifically accurate dinosaur sculptures for clients and educational facilities, and from sales on our website (DarwinAndWallace.com). So what can a few extra bucks thrown our way help us do? Well, we recently purchased our own box-truck, which means Darwin and Wallace can now leave the confines of Florida and take our products to conventions across the country! However, it also means paying for financing, insurance, and gas on a vehicle that we didn't own before, not to mention the costs of lodging and the convention space as well (previously we were renting U-Hauls, which would've been mega-bucks to take D&W outside of Florida for any length of time). Extra cash our way also means being able to create and prepare more specimens for folks to buy, including fossils, skulls, skeletons, taxidermy, wet specimens, mounted insects, etc. If you couldn't tell by now, Darwin and Wallace is also a store without a physical store presence. Your contributions could also help us launch that stand-alone brick and mortar store one day (perhaps even a museum!). We've had tons of requests for us to open a store in the Orlando area, which would be a dream come true. At this point, we are nowhere near that goal, but maybe with your help, that might become a reality one day.

If I haven't expressed this clearly enough already, Darwin and Wallace isn't just about making money, its about creating museum-quality specimens that can help educate and inspire awe in those that take the time to look up from their smartphones and get an eye-full of what the natural world has to offer. My hope is that through creating these specimens, maybe another child will become inspired, just like I did. Though I get nothing monetarily when it comes to educating people, nothing brings me more pleasure than knowing I helped did so when talking to folks about the natural history specimens that Darwin and Wallace has to offer.

My fiance' and I digging in the dinosaur fossil-bearing locality known as the Lance Creek Formation, Wyoming.

Just a small sampling of the specimens we provide.

A full-sized Deinonychus ("raptor") dinosaur that was done for a private client.

A cast-replica dinosaur skeleton that was done for a new children's library.

With the purchase of the official Darwin and Wallace truck, there are some upgrades I'd like to make to it for the sake of safety and convenience, namely a back-up camera, and bluetooth accessibility. Outside of the hydraulic lift, this truck is pretty bare-bones, and having a backup camera would definitely provide ease of mind when getting in and out of convention loading docks, as well as the often tight spaces of the hotels and restaurants that I'd have to stop at while on the road. The bluetooth feature would also be extremely convenient for using the phone while on the road so that I could simply talk into the air as opposed to using one hand to hold the phone up to my head.
