Dear Teacher (and anyone else),

My name is Joe Blizzard.  Some of you know me as "Teacher" from the Dear Teacher/Love Teacher blog, "Mr. Teacher" from the Edcouraged texting group (see sidebar of blog for more on this), or the creator of Mad Mad Math Money and various resources in the Dear Teacher/Love Teacher Store on Teachers Pay Teachers.  I am a teacher, and as you can see from everything above I have a passion for supporting other teachers and educators.

I am in my eleventh year of teaching.  I was a middle school science teacher for the first nine of those years, and I am in my second year of being a STEM teacher at a district-run science center.  Students learning and learning how to lean on their own, along with sparking a curiosity about the world have always been my biggest goals...and helping other teachers use their gifts, skills, and talents to do the same is a part of that goal.

A few years ago I was inspired by the book by Eric Jensen, Teaching with Poverty in Mind, to write a personal note (full paragraph) to each of my students before the state tests.  I got so much out of doing that, and I got to thinking about how I would love a note like that as a teacher...so I did the same thing for all of the teachers at my school.  This inspired me to start the blog, and from the blog other resources were spawned.  This is where the passion came from for other teachers.  And the feedback I get keeps me going.

Over time, making meaningful resources of encouragement for teachers and for them to encourage and inspire others (students, teachers, and beyond) began to take more and more time and money (for software and the like).  This has led me to try to find a way to find a little income so that I can continue this service for teachers.  I have tried ads on the blog and Teachers Pay Teachers, but this has made me feel disconnected from the people I am trying to serve.  I actually hate making teachers pay for the resources I have on Teachers Pay Teachers.

That is why I am here on Patreon.  Through your monthly giving, I will be able to continue providing encouragement and inspiration for teachers without worry about how to break even on any expenses that I have in doing this.  Along with that, if I have enough supporters, I can make most of the digital resources I have made more available for teachers to have and use.  Once I hit the break-even point, any other donations will help me to be able to expand some of the resources that I am trying to create and make them even more dynamic.  Like I said, any help you can give me would be amazing.  And I thank you in advance!  You rock!
