Hey I'm Sean! I've written a graphic novel, which I'm currently illustrating. I've started releasing chapters on my website: dirkmaximus.com

Bale of the Banshee is a murder mystery featuring monsters as the suspects. It stars private investigator Dirk Maximus.

I've got a day job creating apps and websites, but I'd really like to turn my career toward making comics full-time. You can help me!

A Brief History

I created the character Dirk Maximus in college. At the time he was awfully silly-looking, wearing a shirt and tie, blazer, cargo pants, and most importantly, an oversized green knit hat.

In my spare time I created about 30 pages of comics. It proved to be a formative project in which I tested various media, and it created an outlet for making comics in an environment where otherwise I was not getting the opportunity.

Ultimately, I abandoned the project when I decided I wasn't happy with the plot. In fact, there was no plot! I hadn't written a story at all, and the project fizzled out through attrition.

After I got my first real job post-college, I started writing ideas for a Dirk Maximus "reboot." I started completely from scratch story-wise and I jettisoned the sillier aspects of the character's visual design.

Since then, I've worked in my spare time on writing story, designing characters, and improving my art. But the process has been stop-and-go from the very start. Having a day job often cuts into creative time (and desire).

And that brings us to today. Now working as a freelancer, I have the opportunity to limit my "day job" time and devote more attention to comics. I'm hoping Patreon can help fund that comic work!

Thanks for reading. If you enjoy my work, please consider helping me create more comics by becoming a patron!
