Dr. Debra Soh

is creating journalism that defends science and academic freedom

I believe the public deserves to know the truth when it comes to topics like human sexuality and gender. These discussions should not be informed by political agendas or ideology, but this is the reality we face with mainstream media today.

I made the decision to leave academia so that I could write and speak uncensored about these issues.

My recent work defends the science around biological sex differences (including a column I wrote that went viral, defending the Google memo). I am also critical of the "early transitioning" approach in gender dysphoric children; feminism; racial quotas; and misinformation about paraphilias (atypical sexual interests) and so-called "porn addiction" and "sex addiction."

When you become a patron of my work, you're giving a voice to scientific truths, no matter how unpopular they may be. I hope that you'll join me in standing up for free speech, academic freedom, and science journalism driven by facts instead of identity politics or political correctness.

ABOUT ME

I write about the science of sex, politics, and culture, as well as academic censorship and science denial. I write columns for the Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, and Quillette. My work also appears in Harper's, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, Scientific American, Playboy Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Real Clear Politics, Newsday, New York Magazine, Men's Health, the Independent, the Weekend Australian, the Korea Herald, UnHerd, CBC News, and Pacific Standard, among others.

I was recently profiled in the New York Times as one of "The Renegades of the Intellectual Dark Web," and in Penthouse Magazine as the December 2018 cover story and "Penthouse Crush." I have appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher.

I have been interviewed and/or received media coverage in outlets including the BBC, the Washington Post, Discover Magazine’s Neuroskeptic, NPR’s The Hidden Brain and The Pulse, USA Today, National Review, the Daily Wire, One Smart Person and Greg Gutfeld, BlazeTV, the Federalist, the National Post, Psychology Today, Reason.com, The Femsplainers, Slate, Dan Savage's podcast, TVO's The Agenda, Cosmopolitan, GQ Italy, Esquire, Maxim, AskMen, Politiken, The Luke Thomas Show, We the Internet, the Kinsey Institute’s Facts of Love series, and many others.

During my time as an academic researcher, I was awarded York University's Provost Dissertation Scholarship and received funding from the Canadian government through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. I also published my research in academic journals including the Archives of Sexual Behavior and Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.

In 2019, I testified as an expert witness in Grabher v. Nova Scotia Registrar of Motor Vehicles in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
