Everything is Awesome!

Ever since he was young, little Dr. Ben wanted to study everything.

He is a first generation university student from a small village in rural Nova Scotia, Canada, who loves wildly speculating and then furiously researching to see if those speculations make sense.

He spent his academic career working on the history of science, technology, and medicine (HSTM) from antiquity to the present, and its relationship to spirituality, beliefs, and the politics of knowledge, especially as they relate to the weird, paranormal, and occult.

Between HSTM and the nature of knowledge and beleifs, he hoped to be able to make a living pursing all of his interests.

One Day, Dr. Ben Said Harumph!

As we went through his PhD he saw other PhD students and early career academics, especially those who were more marginalized, being very badly treated by their departments and university administrators, and how students were being very badly treated as well.

This was not why he had wanted to be a professor...

He loved teaching. He loved research. He loved talking about ideas, learning things with others, and sharing his enthusiasm. He loved all these things from the depths of his giant autistic heart, and so he had to leave school....

As a freelancer, he could teach and learn in the ways he wanted to, about the subjects and topics that he wanted to. At the pace he wanted to.

I'm developing a whole line of educational material and curated content that interests me and that I think will interest others over Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, and am developing a series of online "lightning lectures and rants" and longer material on Youtube, where I will also be curating other educational material I find.

I hope to be able to do more over time, developing a podcast and documentaries.

Sound Like Your Cuppa Strange?

If any of this sounds like your cuppa strange, please consider supporting my Patreon account so I can live and produce the kind of entertaining, intriguing, and important educational content that we all would rather see than sitting through a first-year intro course with 500+ students while getting graded into an insecure and isolating oblivion.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you're having a lovely day! 😊
