Every day ECC school provides free education to around 100 students from the local village of Po. Our volunteers also support the village next to Po, by providing classes in their Pagoda.
In Cambodia, English is not part of the standardised curriculum before High School. In many rural areas, it is not even offered at this level.This equates to only 1 in 3 children having the opportunity to learn English
, as many children simply cannot afford to attend.
This is something that ECC is looking to change. At the beginning of 2016, ECC achieved our initial goal, by supporting the local public school (Porbonteay Chey Primary and Secondary) in providing on site English lessons. This allowed us to provide education to over 500 students in total.
Four years after opening the first school, we feel that we have developed an educational model that we want to share with the rest of Cambodia, to give as many children access to education as possible. Our first steps towards this are;
Building a permanent, concrete school on the first site, to allow more children access to the school. Building a second concrete school at the floating village (Tonle Sap), one of the most deprived areas of the Siem Riep District, to allow their children to have access vital education that they simply will not have otherwise.
Until this point ECC has been entirely funded by the founders (Savon ‘Momma’ & Em Savuth ‘Poppa’), as well as the charitable donations of volunteers and tourists. However to grow this project, and give all of the children of Cambodia access to basic education (Something that every child deserves) we desperately need outside help and funding.
We want to change the world, for the better, one child at a time, please help us to achieve this goal.
