Watching modern movies and TV often feels like little more than a nostalgia trip. So many of the stories that we tell are remakes, reboots and re tellings of the same stories. And while occasionally stepping back to enjoy something that we liked before is enjoyable it shouldn’t be the entirety of storytelling. And while nothing in entirely original the stories that matter aren’t those that play it safe they are the stories that look at things in a new way. They let us meet new people, see new worlds and understand things from a different perspective.

That is where I come in. I’m as big a fan as anyone of all of the greats. I watch Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, X-men, Firefly, The Flash and laugh and cry with everyone else. But when I sit down to write I’m not trying to make those experiences again. I’m trying to find a way to take what was great about those and create something new. I want to introduce you to new characters, show you places you haven’t been before and at the best I hope to make make you laugh or cry.

The problem of course is that while we’d all like the time most of us are very limited on our free time. The idea of reading a novel, even one that we know we would love is at best daunting. But if you have time to watch an episode of TV you have time for a short story and I the freedom to try new things and explore far more ideas than I ever could writing novels and I hope you’re willing to help.

If you are willing to give me anything you’ll have access to all of the stories I put on Patreon. In addition I’ll send you my monthly newsletter and you’ll have my gratitude not just for the financial support but almost the emotional support because just knowing that people are willing to do something is very important to me.

At this level I'll send you the print copies of the books that I have written. I plan to have at least one print book every year which will include full length stories and anthologies. And of course they'll be autographed.

Short stories require lots of character names. Would you like your name or the name of someone you know in a story that I write. At this level I'll be glad fit a name into a story. And of course I'll still be sending you the physical copies of all of my stories as well.

$2 of $10 per short story
Ten dollars is about what I make for a short article  for someone else and while those take far less time this is symbolic to me that my own work is worth as much as an article about iPhone apps and other internet articles I write. And while I still won't be turning down the better jobs it would allow me to cut out some of the things that really do feel like just work and spend that time writing things that have far more value.
