Hi there! I’m Emma Kinema, a game developer turned labor organizer.

Six months ago I co-founded a movement and an organization called Game Workers Unite. Although I have loved my career in the game industry, I want to put it aside and focus entirely on my real passion: organizing workers and unionizing the game industry. To do that, I need your help.

Since its founding I've helped shape Game Workers Unite from a small group of angry game developers venting online into an international organization with 20+ chapters, hundreds of members, thousands of supporters, and international press coverage.

With your support I can afford to scale back on my freelance work and focus full-time on being an organizer, ensuring that Game Workers Unite can continue to grow and improve our industry.

We've already accomplished so much in so little time and I can't wait to see what the future holds. Help get us there by enabling me to dedicate my life to labor organizing.

----------------------------------------------

I'm an extremely frugal person so somewhere between $1500 - $2500 a month will cover my personal cost of existence under capitalism. Any extra will go to GWU related travel.

Groceries: $100
Healthcare: $115 ($15 meds, $100 electrolysis)
Bills: $187 (including internet, electricity, gas, etc.)
Student Loans: $364
Transportation: $492 ($92 car insurance, $400 gas)
Rent: $725
Total Living Costs: $1983

GWU Related Costs: $??? (Extra goes to self-funded buses and flights to industry events)

----------------------------------------------

Also, I'm working on an unannounced visual novel that's very gay, very personal, and weird as shit with an amazing artist. So more on that in the future. <3

I appreciate every single dollar and cent, whatever the amount you are able to give! <3

To thank you for supporting my fight to unionize games:
  • I will personally thank you on Twitter!
  • I will post one report a month on Patreon about the behind-the-scenes work I'm doing with Game Workers Unite. Excluding confidential operational security related subjects.
  • You can ask me about my work, labor organizing, politics, games, whatever through the Patron-only Community Zone™.

Turning This Ship Around

I can actually start digging myself out of the hole that I hopped into when I decided to go to a fancy private top-in-my-field university! Thanks capitalism!
