Euan B Graham

Is a Canberra artist (originally from Melbourne Australia) whose practice spans drawing, painting, and mixed media and music. He began painting and exhibiting at 14 years of age and was trained at Monash University in Melbourne completing a Bachelor of Fine Art in 1993. A few years ago he turned to the streets to exhibit his work, adopting Canberra bus stops as a surface for his paste-ups. This direction not only represented his growing dissatisfaction with the ‘Gallery Scene”, but also reprises his formative experience performing “New Epoch Art” newepochartist.com painting in the streets and parks of Melbourne. The political and provocative nature of Euan’s work and the topics and themes he represents continued in his subsequent body of work – Uncertain Journeys – created between 2013 and 2015 http://www.deathscapes.org These works explore the refugee experience, utilising the techniques he adopts in his street art – stencils and spray enamel paint, in conjunction with more traditional mediums. in 2017 Euan was awarded the Empire Global art award for his work “The Cat Bell” a stencil work described by the judges as “elegant in a slightly sinister way”. Euan is a prolific artist who exhibits regularly. He is represented in The Australian National Gallery Print Collection and in Private collections in London, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and the ACT.

"My current work is entitled "New Winter Themes". Climate change is the central theme, although other forms of social change are also in focus. I am not a commercial gallery artist endorsed by the establishment, and collected by the elite. I would like my work to be relevant and accessible to the broader community. I pursue my creative ventures with single mindedness, striving for excellence despite working full time in the field of disability support and raising a young family of 4. I am time poor as well as financially stressed. I would like to seek a means of revenue to continue my creative efforts, for I feel I am now at a most exciting stage of my development. I believe artists have a vital role to play in adding to the general social discourse, in raising sensitivities and contributing to the living culture that enriches our shared experience of life."

Recording under the name "Romeo and Juliet Died Ok!" and classically trained on violin, my music now spans three decades, recording on tape cassette in the early 90's experimental pieces capturing the layers of a painting, and then progressing through song writing to build a substantial collection of albums. I rarely collaborate (except with the kids) and never perform live. My Music is home-recorded using primitive equipment and a variety of acoustic and improvised instruments. My video's are usually featuring my children and double as home movies charting the evolution of the family unit. My recordings are my performance unfolding like a scrap book of memories, or the pages of a secret black diary (mysoundposter.blog/artist/euan-b-graham). I have recently embarked on the marathon project to upload my entire back catalogue onto romeoandjulietdiedok.bandcamp.com
