About Fahiym Hanna

Dear friends and community,

Being a community organizer is hard to monetize, the work seems never-ending, the progress is slow at times; to efficiently work with a volunteer staff, your calendar must be flexible. I have had a lot of success in my fourteen years of community organizing due to the early establishment of my own small business. I am a perfumer, and I own a stand alone building in Uptown Greensboro. The profits from my business has funded many community projects, and as the sole proprietor, I can choose my own hours. The building that houses the storefront also doubles as my campaign office, so I can meet with volunteer staff and host meetings during business hours. Pacing is the key to my longevity, operating a successful business limits the time I have to do the actual work of community organizing.
The urgency to change my pacing and expand my work comes in the mist of the COVID-19 pandemic. The responsive of local government has been minimal and shortsighted. I want to expand my work into a three-prong campaign to create more care for people negatively affected by COVID-19.
One: I have already started forming local coalitions of people already doing the work in response to the pandemic. Mutual aid groups, organizations working to hold elected officials accountable, linking volunteers where help is needed, and disseminating correct information.

Two: Lobbying for better short term polices. Many local governments are already looking to criminalize people who are not complying with shutdown protocols and social distancing. A better policy would incentivize people who choose to stay at home with enough money to provide for their households. Other comprehensive demands are laid out in this public letter and petition: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd4_jz7zZxTOJDbhK5ulwM0A2UlyA13h31SBdg-PR76Ws-veA/viewform

Three: Continue to advocate for innovative change that safeguards peoples' local access to basic needs; namely, The Correct Priority Society Model(CPS-Model).
The CPS-Model is a countywide worker program that empowers people to work a minimum of 8-14 hours per week, in any of the sectors related to basic needs (natural food, clean water, shelter from the elements, collective infrastructure and consensual education), and in return for that work, people earn consistent access to their individual basic needs, in the amount they need it. Find more information at: https://fahiymhanna.com/cps-model/
This is where Patreon is an ideal solution. With financial support from my Patriots, I can take time away from the parts of my days that are normally allotted to earning money. Currently my perfumer is only doing curbside and mail out by order of the statewide stay-at-home order. This is great time to be pushing for a brighter future, and not just mourning the normalcy lost during this pandemic.

So whether you're looking to learn directly from me, support my political advocacy of the CPS-Model, or just love the idea of being a more engaged citizen, putting $1, $2, $5 or $10, through Patreon, is a great monthly investment into our local movements and democracy.
Patreon is full of visual artists, musicians and inventors, who are more creative when people pay them to express their craft in the ways they know best. Hopefully, community organizers and political advocates will join that list! Can you imagine a community where you know your political cause is being campaigned thanks to your monthly investment? That would be a welcome change since community organizers are essentially the unpaid interns of the whole political world, and any part of our lives can become political at any point. Thanks for checking out my page, and I hope you decide to join me on Patreon. Please share the link. The sooner we can build a solid base, the sooner we can all start to build something amazing.

Let's get to it,
