I wanna make cool things for people because cool things are cool and people are cool.
Hello Everyone! I’m Devin Harrigan but around the interwubs I’m known as Featherweight. I make things...like, all the things. I have been a freelance artist for almost a decade now and in that time I've developed a diverse skill set and created a wide variety of awesome stuff: puppets, paintings, digital art, plushies, costumes, tutorial books, and of course what I’m best known for, prop building. It’s actually pretty likely that you've seen some of my work at some point out in the wilds on the internet and not even known it, as I've been lucky enough to collaborate with a ton of great creators over the years (Fallout: Nuka Break, The Nostalgia Critic, and LoadingReadyRun to name a few).
Over the years there have been MANY projects that I would have been super interested in doing but just couldn't because the person couldn't afford to pay me for the amount of time, effort, and materials it would take. I want to change that. What I dream of doing is taking requests from anyone who needs them, regardless of costs. If a project sounds cool and I have the time and skills to do it I want to able to just say “yes, I can do that for you” without worry. In essence, I want to become an open resource available for everyone —and especially for other creators, because there is nothing more satisfying than helping to bring someone’s creative vision into reality. This could include cosplayers who need props, indie filmmakers in need of puppets, or even just someone who would like a cool painting.
That’s where Patreon comes in! If through the generosity of patrons I can cover my costs, I will stop taking paid commissions and work on request projects full time. By becoming my patron you’re not only directly supporting me as an artist, but also all the other creators I’ll be able to collaborate with more freely because of it. I think this will generally increase the amount of awesome things out in the world.
I also want to include as many perks for my patrons as I can manage to show my appreciation for being so generous and awesome, like access to high-res printable copies if my paintings, digital copies of all my books, special giveaways, and more.
Also for those interested In the creative processes itself I intend to share and document as much as possible with progress photos, video updates and live streaming from my workshop, which will all go up on my website www.FeatherweightCreations.com
