About

The Fenton History Center is the premier organization for the history of Jamestown and southern Chautauqua County! Since 1963, we have shared the unique and fascinating story of this area with our residents and visitors through inclusive exhibits and programs that appeal to all ages and abilities. It is our mission to carry on the legacy and spirit of the esteemed Governor Reuben Fenton, who believed in the promise of our community, and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.

No matter what your interests are, or where you're coming to us from, we have a story that will appeal to you! Explore the rich, incredible history of our area with expanded access to our unique archival materials on topics like women's suffrage, the Underground Railroad, military history, the immigrant experience, the transportation industry (railroads and steamboats and more!), Lucille Ball, and many, many others. Be the first to know when we make new discoveries in our archives and our archaeological dig, bringing to light artifacts and photos that have likely never been seen in public before (or at least not for the last century!). And, at the higher levels, prepare to start off on your own history journey, by getting personalized 1-on-1 time with our expert researchers, and by receiving premium gifts that will help you on your way to understanding what makes our area, and our community, special.

The Fenton History Center is utilizing Patreon as a way for people to support us beyond our traditional membership. Thank you for your support!
