Hi I’m Josh. And I’m Jean. And we are Full Runa! Well, part of it. You see, being ‘Runa’ is about being part of community, however, when this narrative adventure started, it was just the two of us. We met when we were little kids, and ever since, we've shared an irrational and unhealthy passion for stories and storytelling. We got into everything, from books and videogames to movies and theater, and while we enjoyed every second of it, something was always missing.
In the end, we both became writers through very different paths, building stories of the wildest kinds wherever and whenever we could. That, along with our ill-advised obsession with narrative, gave us a very particular perspective on storytelling, one that fits perfectly with the magical world of transmedia! A world where tales cannot be bound to a single piece of writing, a world where stories manifest themselves in whatever way they can; images, audio, text or video. That’s what transmedia is all about: one universe, many mediums, and an infinite number of stories.
Years ago, when we started studying narrative, we found a massive amount of phenomenal characters that were ruined by the tags they carried. “Fabulous”, “tomboyish”, “addict”, “hero”. We always felt that it was a mistake, a shortsighted attempt that instead of easing stereotypes, replicated them. So when we started writing, we decided that our characters would be defined by one single word: Human, with all the depth and complexity that such a word entails. Imperfect and yet lovable, like a dog with untamable hair.
So after years of fluttered hair, we got here. After thinking and rethinking entire universes, we decided to start Full Runa Studio as a means to share the stories we had in our heads with others who want the same thing we want, with other ‘Runa’. This is where YOU come in. We started working in our universe and our stories years ago, and we are now ready to share the first few with you; three of them, to be precise. The comics ‘Mama’ and ‘Tiny Thorns’, one dark and gritty and one light hearted and easy to enjoy, and a novel, ‘The Lost Thorn’, which explores what we’ve come to call the Full Runa Storyworld, from the perspective of a depressive mage in a decadent 22nd century world.
With your help, and if you like what you see, (the comic that is, not Josh or Jean). Actually, never mind, if you think any of us is cute and want to patron that, go ahead. But even if that’s the case, we will still use your money to help Full Runa grow. Every dime we get will help us maintain our world, keep the stories we already have running, and allow us to work on more stories in every imaginable medium.
Keep in mind that we’re not working alone, a group of awesome people is collaborating with us, visual artists, voice actors, filmmakers; friends from all paths of life that we've made around the world and that are now betting on Full Runa out of passion. You would be supporting them too, all of us. We are, before anything else, a community. We are Runa.
By supporting us, you become part of that community. You become ‘Runa’, and earn the sincerest thanks from some guys whose dream of making art for a living you just helped further.
