GabrelikGamingis creating art and indie RPG's for your face
"Who are you, and what do you do?"
Excellent question! My name is Gabrelik, and I have a strong passion for art and gaming. Nostalgia is a huge part of what I do, so I want to create things that bring people back to a simpler time, and give them that warm and fuzzy that goes along with being a happy child. Indie gaming has given me that outlet, and through it, I hope to give people some of the same joy that I remember while growing up with amazing titles like Suikoden, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, etc. With the release of my first project, I was inspired to keep pressing forward. I want to keep sharing what I create with the world.
"I should care about this, why??"
There are still so many people getting excited about Indie games, and as such, there is an amazing opportunity to connect with those people. I want to bring them something they will really love, and an experience they will hold on to for years to come! Gaming is an outlet to which we can all relate. It gives us a release from the monotony, and allows us to feel like children again, even if only for a spell. Who wouldn't be onboard with that?
"What is this 'first project' you mentioned?"
The first real game I ever worked on was, "Dear Edwin". This was a project created with a group of extremely talented and like-minded individuals for the 2017 IGMC. We called ourselves, "Lazy Bum Studios", and had exactly one month to come up with something spectacular. We did not intend to disappoint, and we worked tirelessly for an entire month, collaborating, writing, etc. While there was so much more we wanted to incorporate by the due date, what we ended up submitting was something that brought us great pride, and garnered nearly 1300 downloads during the event. We also earned 7th place in the Popular Vote, out of 250 submissions!
The game is a classic twist on the film noir concept in a fully custom pixel style, complete with the quick-witted gumshoe and damsel in distress. While it plays more like an interactive novel, Dear Edwin was so well received as to prompt a full length prequel at some point in the future! This is something Lazy Bum Studios hopes to begin as soon we finish our current projects. :D If you like, you can check out that original gamejam entry, here, and completely free!
"Okay, say I wanted to contribute just a little something...how will my money be used?"
Contributions to this page allow me to take more time to focus on creating, and put out quite a bit more than my current "hobbyist" schedule can allow. I would also like to supplement my own modest skill with that of far more talented individuals. The projects I have in mind are in no way minor undertakings, and will require quite a bit of work and time. Every penny helps me to flesh out these concepts with so much more, and bring us that much closer to a game everybody can be proud to play. We will hire artists, composers, and programmers as needed in order to make every project the very best experience that it can be. You, the player, deserve nothing less. Today's market is saturated with garbage entertainment and pay-to-win nonsense. Help me get things back on track, and create the games that you want to see.
"Last question...what do I get out of all of this??"
An excellent question, indeed. Your contributions make you a vital part of the process. As such, Patrons will gain access to the first updates on current progress, as well as special add-ons like Wallpapers, art giveaways, exclusive content, and so much more. You'll be connected to me directly through polls and messages that will allow you to help me shape the content of these games the way you want to see them. This is an opportunity to be a part of a select group of people who will help forge this path, and to truly belong to a creative process. Reward tiers will increase as we go, and I'll be asking all of you to guide me in bringing you what you want. Let me know what I can do to earn your contribution, and I'll make it happen.
It has taken me many years and a lot of stumbling on the path of life to find my calling. I know now that creating art and games is what I was meant to do, and I will cross great chasms in order to bring you the content you deserve. Each and every one of you that help to pave that path are granting me a kindness I could never truly repay. Your support means the world to me, and without it I would be most assuredly lost. I want to thank you with all that I am. It is a dream to be able to do what you love, and to most, it is one not worth chasing in these difficult times. I will do everything I can to be worthy of such trust. Your help means the world to me, and I do not intend to disappoint.
*Instant access to the Moiety Patron-only content!
*Artwork, wallpapers, and more exclusive freebies.
*Your name in the credits of any project created here.
*Opportunity to influence game content through polls.
*Bragging rights...because why wouldn't you? ;)
Reaching this goal will allow me to create one additional adorable sprite, and/or behavior per month, and while this may not seem like much, it is immensely important! I believe real game immersion is based upon the environment and the experience, and I would love to populate the current project with more than just static sprites. They need life! Life, I tell you!
