Milestone Goals
Increased Work Hours!
$500 per month
This is a good supplement to my income. I can reduce my hours at my part-time job, giving me a lot more time for Gender Portraits!
Full-Time Test Run!
$800 per month
I'll see if art sales will fill out my budget, and will work on Gender Portraits full-time for a couple months to test the waters. I could maybe sustain this.
Food on the Table!
$1,200 per month
My mother calls me an air plant. Believe it or not, I can [strictly] budget to live off this without worrying about sales. Full-time project devotion indefinately!
Videos and Comics!
$1,600 per month
I can relax and not be budget paranoid. With more time and morale, I can start making extra content like YouTube videos, blog posts, comics and more!
On the Road!
$2,000 per month
I can save for occasional Gender Portrait shows/meeting new subjects outside of Texas. This is something I REALLY want to happen.
Part-Time Assistant!
$2,500 per month
With this much interest in my Patreon, I'm assuming that sales are decent. I'll be able to afford a part-time assistant to help with shipping orders, managing social media, and booking art shows. This will free up sooo much time to work on more Gender Portraits content and extras.
Studio Space!
$3,200 per month
Currently, I paint out of a living room shared with a roommate. Shipping supplies and backstock prints live in my bedroom. Videos and interviews are conducted in creative places. Affording rent for a private studio space would be a game changer!
Full-Time Assistant!
$3,800 per month
Oh my gosh! Please let this happen. I could hire someone to help with filming and editing videos, booking new subjects, transcribing interviews, book keeping, and all the stuff I mentioned before. I would just be a content creator! I could go to bed at normal hours and go out for a drink sometimes. Pleeease let this happen!
Stunts and Glory!
$4,500 per month
At this point I could do so much. I could do giveaways, host fantastic trans positive events, travel further and more often for the project. This would mean a lot of flexibility, and cool endeavors. Maybe collaborations? I don't even know. This is above and beyond my current goal making plans. Care to challenge me?

Gender Portraits is an art series that celebrates gender diversity with paintings and stories of gender nonconforming people. My work creates validation and confirmation for trans* people, exposure and education for the general public, and moving paintings for the art enthusiast. I also interview my subjects so that I can release their stories alongside the paintings. This increases trans visibility by allowing the viewer to get to know the people behind the paintings.

To see the paintings and read about gender nonconformists, visit the Gender Portraits website.

I've received amazing feedback, and have been featured in a number of prominent places, including the Advocate. Still, online sales are not a reliable source of income. I recently had to take a part time job to make sure the bills are paid. This has completely bottle-necked the Gender Portraits project. Before, I posted trans news on social media daily, arranged events to show my work, managed the business (website, products shipments and more), and painted almost every day. I created about a painting a month, including a photo shoot and interview with subject, as well as transcribing the interview into a final story. Now, I mostly struggle to keep up with the business side of things. I am lucky if I get a few days to paint each month.

I'd like to get started on all the amazing goals I have for Gender Portraits. Not only to continue what I've already done, but a plethora of new ideas I've been planning. I want to make videos about gender issues, create cool trans* themed comics, and paint paintings that tackle gender issues without being portraits. I have some spectacular concepts for the new paintings, including some that can be made faster, so that I can create more content for my fans. I would also like to take my series on the road, and bring gender diverse visibility to as many locations as I can.

But in order to do this, I still need to make ends meet. I've depleted my savings finishing the initial release of this project. Monthly donors, like yourself, are the key to securing a future for Gender Portraits. It doesn't need to be much! A few bucks a month from enough Patrons will make sure that Gender Portraits can stay my full-time job for years to come.

I'll finish by leaving you with a few of the current paintings in the series:
