Strong creative processes are built on a series of subtle inventions. In part by people who are eager to temporarily reinvent themselves for the task but also by ambitions that are in pursuit of new ground. Great inventions capitalize on timing opportunity with necessity, leveraging instances of need with resources that can accommodate the breadth of circumstances. Driving these proportionately rare moments are people like myself that have command over the broadest possible perspective for the most appropriate audience. Quite simply, while not all ambitions are equal, great results are the resolve of great people. Greatness is first an ambition, second a goal, third an infinite pursuit.

So where to begin . . .
Typically, as an artist, the better you get the more expensive your imagination and, by extension, your work becomes. Not necessarily more expensive to acquire (there is that too) but also more expensive to create. I'm not an artist of things that can be acquired. Frankly my response to the idea of being any sort of artist at all is normally a combination of amusement and terror.
But over the years tangible concepts have been developed, experimented with, attempted and in a number of instances created. However the list of creations is always getting longer with the realistic time and money to enact them always getting shorter.

Now 'corporate' art snobs will insist that the work that someone is willing to suffer for is the work that's truly significant. Just like violently oppressive chauvinists will insist that the people that one's content to subjugate proves one's innate superiority. I don't know about you but I've lived in makeshift caves, have perhaps been seen carrying something like a club. There may have been the occasional loin cloth and it's possible that said cloth was worn in the vicinity of a fire, that I may have just impressed myself by starting. However never have any of these things occurred simultaneously, moreover never with the intention of becoming lifestyle choices.  I'm beyond my species' barbaric beginnings, as you should also be.

You are more evolved than to insist that my dwindling hind-brain should be dictating anything. If this definition of creativity offends your sense of propriety remember that I began by reminding you that I am not an artist of tangibles.

I'm a creator. Sometimes of things that are intended to entertain, at other times of things that are meant to provoke thought, meditation and inspiration. Within my singular genre a desire to construct physical items occurs.  All are artifacts of many things, ideas, experiences and interests.

With these things in mind the first items that I'll be presenting are of a very new series that I began about a year ago entitled Anatomy of a Lie. This concept originally began as a book, or more accurately a very long description of a DIY lie-detector. While I may add words to the pieces that I create in this series I'm still interested in making images and/or items that provocate thoughts and impressions.

The first item in this series has taken about 150 hours to create, with the 'deluxe' version expected to total around 500 hours. This iteration of the concept was inspired by a piece of novelty that I came across and decided to expand on. Upon doing so I incorporated it into a concept that I began sometime around 2013. I prefer that conceptual investigations have some depth so it's likely that the series will have at least five installments. The first installment will be limited to 100 - 101 releases. Each recipient is catalogued and at some point that catalogue will be shared amongst those that are recipients.  As of January 10, 2019 five have been released.

Sustainability requires that I recoup more than just some arbitrary hourly expense so that progress can be pursued. However I am considering delivering the printed imagery on more than one type of media, likely with more than one version and at different final costs.

It's worth noting that a young friend of mine was part of the impetus for the first work in the series. Initially designed as a gift for a person that I think of as family, I wanted to make something that would resonate beyond our generational divide.

As a designer many of the thing that I work on are complete inventions, products, innovations etc. Some are technological in nature while others are more aesthetic. I believe intelligent design is in large part an artform, one that considers not what the user thinks of themselves but how innovation can facilitate growth where community and progress intersect.  I've created my Investor Tier to help those with such means gain access to opportunities to take part in the development of products and utilities that I've either designed and have yet to begin monetizing or have conceptualized, begun designing but quite frankly can't yet prioritize.  Teamwork can make dreams work and partnering with others to grow good ideas is something I'm always very interested in.
