All the finished things
All the secret things
In addition to my deep gratitude and access to all the finished works that I share, you will have access to a plethora of behind-the-scenes posts: process videos, rehearsal videos and photos, works-in-progress, news updates with secret info, live events, and even comics and songs that are external to the published canon but that I have made nevertheless; be a part of all the weirdness and ephemera that is my artistic journey. Plus, patrons at this tier will be invited to give feedback about what they want to see! This is the tier with the extra fun.
All the downloadable things
At this amount of support you will have access to everything in the feed, PLUS you will receive a huge download of files of just about EVERYTHING that I have shared and self-published up to this point! This is a one-time immediate benefit, but it will renew after a year (so you will get a new, different download of goodies after each 12 months of support!)
This year's package will include:
- A download of my first album, "In The Palace of Green Porcelain"
- A .pdf copy of my comic "Strawberry Ghost"
- A .pdf copy of my full-color limited edition comic "Every So Often"
- High-resolution, printable files of all the pieces from my miniature art book "Horrors Celsius"
- No less than TWENTY printable high-resolution files of my paintings and drawings
- A surprise!
About Helen America
I'm Helen America. I've been making deeply personal hand-drawn watercolor comics about my life, and sharing them on the internet, for more than ten years. I have been writing strange, mercurial songs and sharing them in local house shows, and on the internet, for even longer. I've been making zines and self-publishing my comics and selling them in local galleries and comics shops. I am also an oil painter and multimedia artist, and I was part of legendary Seattle supergroup Princess Seismograph.
(You do want to click on that last link, if you're not already in the know).
If you're reading this, you probably know something about me and my work already; but you might not know the full extent of the work I've done - because making it is one thing, and getting it out in front of people is quite another. Well supplied with inspiration and quite bereft of money and time, I've been struggling for so many years to complete the projects that mean everything to me, the projects that are the best contribution I can make to the world.
This Patreon page is an attempt to change that - it's a way of creating a community to share my work with, everything that I work on, in real time and in one place!
Red Sun, my first full-length album of my own original music in ten years, along with a lyric/art book, will be released on November 8th (and the release party is on November 9th, at Columbia City Theater). My patrons have been able to hear this album before its release, and are all thanked by name in the art book and album credits.
In addition to the full-resolution experience of any and all comics and music I make, patrons who donate a little more will receive physical goodies like zines and art prints in the mail!
I am so excited to start sharing this new work with you, and I cannot wait to bring to life - with your help - the yet-unmade music and comics teeming in my overactive brain.
Come join the party.
This is the amount of money I would make if I worked 40 hours per week on making art and music, for the current federal minimum wage, which is $7.25/hour. This would pay for my rent!
