About Help for the Children-Diyanilla Technical Institute

Help for the Children-Diyanilla Technical Institute a registered Non-Profit NGO in Sri Lanka celebrated the 40th anniversary in serving the youth from Low-income Families in the Tea & farming regions of Sri Lanka.

The parents of these young people of 16 to 25 who attend vocational training at the Institute work as Labour on Tea Plantations and Farming on very small plots of land which do not bring much profit they want the best for their children and wanting the best does not allow them to do the best for them as their income is less than 4 dollars a day with a limited number of days per month. Well within the poverty line they cannot afford a proper education for their children without sacrificing on many needs for their families.

This is where Help for the Children-Diyanilla Technical Institute has stepped in to support their young ones in qualifying with vocational skills which would give them an equivalent educational status through the “National Vocational Qualification” (NVQ) certificate.
