Returning to Patreon

There's a handful of reasons I'm dragging this Patreon page back out of limbo after burying it for a few years (and not only because of the platform's new pricing plans and features). I initially closed it due to wanting to return to a full-time education and frustration from having no protection from fake pledges. Since then, I've completed the course I was on and Patreon has finally given me the option to charge up-front.

Making more art

One thing that hasn't changed is my passion for creating art for others. I've been holding free art raffles  over on my art-centric Twitter account regularly for months now and more recently, I want to start drawing based on fans' requests (because I get a great deal of satisfaction from involving and working for others - especially if they also have a genuine interest in what I do).

Deliverable rewards (i.e.: What's on offer?)

For a re-launch, I want to start off at a relatively small scale. I'll admit that I'm still sceptical and concerned about the piracy of exclusive content that's happened before (even though I never got paid much for it) so for the first few months, any art that gets posted here will be public and posted on other social media sites. Once I feel more confident, I'll introduce exclusive content such as full-resolution art, (timed-)exclusive content and maybe uploading source files.
What I will offer to begin with is letting people have input into what it is I draw. This will include suggesting and voting on which characters to draw, giving feedback on sketches of poses or actions and deciding on specific themes to base art or polls from.
I'll regularly look at the content being provided and see where I can improve it, increase it and generally adjust it based on feedback from patrons (past, present and future) - altering tiers and goals as required.

Future plans

I'm not always the best at self-motivation, which is why having the pressure and expectation of others really helps drives me to work. As well as constantly striving to improve and produce art, I also want to:
  • Create a Discord server, providing people with a place to develop a close-knit community and somewhere more practical than Patreon's "Community" tab.
  • Start taking Commissions, but this won't impact the production of content for the Patreon.
  • Branch into Animation. This is really the main goal, but it is a time-consuming one.
